        This is a very bad

This is a very bad video of a very good thrust test.
All I could say is Holly C--P!!
This is only about 70% thrust as I got soaked as I tried to push higher.
I even got reverse and my reverse ducting is not in yet.
The differental steering works great. She will spin like a top!!
The FS-1 should be great fun in the water to run!! BD.

          I did some basic ballasting

I did some basic ballasting this afternoon and found out it only take about 9 CUIN of foam to get the trim I wanted.
This can easily be added to the inside.
Plus it all wanted to go right under the center at the CG so I lucked out and have the weight distributed correctly.
I think I may have a way to hold the top on with come magnets as well.
I am thinking now that I may forgo the reverse ducting and see how the sub works without it.
Just using the entire inside as a duct out the front windows and vents. It seems to turn so well without the split ducting.
I don't plan on doing much reversing anyway so some is better than none. BD.

              Thank you Sir!!
              I feel

              Thank you Sir!!
I feel I have some sad news for Crazy Ivan.
I have gone over many plans of attack and even tried the magnet approach but bottom line is (Nothing beats a good well place mechanical fastener).
Two stainless Allen screws (Maybe even painted yellow) mounted in the underside manta tips should do the trick.
With the pressure buildup inside with the reverse thrust I do not trust anything but a screw.
It will be the easiest way to access the inside as well.
              Sorry CI
Practicality beats scale detail again!! BD.

                  Ha!! How childish!! I love

Ha!! How childish!! I love it!!
Well the fasteners are in. You can see from the photo that if they were yellow they would be hardly noticeable.
I made two threaded inserts on the lathe and cemented them into the two outboard upper locating pins.
I then opened up the lower pin and countersunk the hole for the screw head.
The upper and lower hulls fit very well together and the two fasteners at this point leave no gap in the seam all the way around.
I am also going to have the top hatch section removable with magnets and will access a waterproof switch mounted to the Otter Box.
The front windows will be mounted with magnets as well so I can remove them for running. BD

This is a photo of the hull on the cool stand that comes with the kit.

                    so dave, if i understand

so dave, if i understand it right, the general layout is this:

2 servos, receiver & battery in otterbox

otterbox mechanically connected to each WTC via small tube for electrical wiring

esc & motor in each WTC

jetpump attached to each WTC via waterproof seal.

flex cable from each servo to each jetpump nozzle with waterproof seal at junction of cable & otterbox

                    one more question:

which model otterbox did you buy for this?

                    thanks

                    Tim

                      You are correct Tim.

                      You are correct Tim.
There is a V-tail mixer as well in the Otter Box.
Most if not all R/C radios only have one V-tail mixer in them and I needed two. One for the motors and one for the servos.
The Otter Box is model 200 in clear. I got it right from the company website. Very fast service, they shipped the same day.

                          Actually I just finished production

Actually I just finished production molds last week and a run of parts for some Seaview kits yesterday. So they are in the works.
I am adding an external antenna tube and ESC switch to the Otter box now.
I was thinking today while answering and email from Mr. Teskey that with the CG so close to the center of the sub that it could end up a bit squirrelly to run at first till I get her trimmed out. It will be like flying the model thought the water and the water moving past the wings will hopefully tend to give stability.
An aircraft that is designed for maneuverability like an aerobatic plane has no real stability like say a high wing trainer does.
I am trying for the aerobatic plane with the FS-1.
And frankly my flying skills SUCK!!
So this should be an interesting first test when she hits the water for the first time. BD.

                            Well with one from STRINGFLY

Well with one from STRINGFLY with a Sub Driver, I can now get my second one together ala, Steve Neils...and with a Big Dave WTC....man am I pumped. Thats going to be cool.

Just one Gato to go and I will have a nice fleet of four large subs.
Plus, I got three Walleyworld subs and two minitures.

Personally, while I love the flying sub, strangely I do not crave one right now...yet I do fly well...maybe I should try to pull one together. I have to check your kit prices when your done Big Dave and see what I can pull together.

                            Cheers
PS going for my first Maiden voyage with my Robbe SeaWolf this week.
                            What a beautiful spring.

                                BD,

                                from what we've witnessed

                                BD,

from what we've witnessed of your previous hyper-powered projects, you had better invest in a large net to put over the pool at the Y to keep that thing from bouncing off the walls 3 feet off the floor. This, I fear, may prove to be the first truly "Flying" Sub!

                                And Dean...

Whether or not the FS-1 is your cup of tea (it never particularly was mine) and even if it never leaves your display shelf, the Moebius Flying Sub is a MUST HAVE. The molding quality, fit and attention to detail are unsurpassed, even by their Seaview standards. As has been said elsewhere, this kit is modeler friendly and a joy to build.
