Speaking of Steamboy, where is he lately? The silence is deafening.
Are you bringing FS-1 to the Y? I'll have my camera and a hardhat. Keep looking up!

        Sometimes just doing the jobs

Sometimes just doing the jobs that look like you have not done anything can take the longest time. I am doing all the small jobs now like adding the magnets to hold on the top hatch, adding the foam, and adding another holding fastener in the bow.
        Sorry CI!
Another SS screw had to be added to keep the nose from popping out.
The weight of the R/C components is a lot for the plastic hull. It could actually be a bit thicker in my humble opinion. But hey!!
It was not designed for R/C use so I will not hold this against them.
You can see too in the photo that I added vent holes in the side of the hatch assembly. I was hoping for a tub test today but things did not turn out that way.
        Maybe tomorrow. BD.

This is a photo of the underside of the R/C components showing the silicone tubing connectors.

Well everything is done except for the final painting and detailing.
Tub test is slated for tomorrow.
I was told it was off limits today due to a party tonight.
I did take some photos of the finished control system.
You can see the antenna tube and the ESC power switch that is accessed through the removeable top hatch. I did get a weight and it is 3 LBS. BD.
BTW-Robert, the drives are the Graupner Mini-Jet Drives.

            I had the tub test

I had the tub test yesterday and some extra foam was needed for final trimming. Not much but it sits level now. It seems to turn very well and I do get some reverse. When she finally gets a pool test I will see if the roll axis works.
            Sorry no tub video!
But the cameras will be rolling when she hits the open water for the first time. Stay tuned!! BD.

              She

              Well!!
She had her first outing tonight.
Lets just say it took Edison many times to get the light bulb right so I expected the worse and got it.
And I have some video to prove it!!
Most of my problems were from a bad reciever. Once in the water and 8' away and it had a mind of its own. I need more stability too. More foam in the upper area. She would kind of flop over like a dead fish and then loose signal. I did do some very cool loops and rolls but I can't say they were controlled. I am going to edit the video and put some up tomorrow. We did take some nice shots of how far the pumps can shoot water. It would make quite a supersoaker!! BD.

                This is the first video.
                I call it Supersoaker.
The FS-1 was set up to show the jet output. It shot water half way across the pool.
My cousin Donnie who was holding the sub ended up getting a shower at the end as I was rotating the nozzles.
If the audio was better in the underwater camera I would have had to BLEEP out his comments to me!!
                Woops!! Sorry!!

This is some video of the first run. As you can see she is work in progress.
Seemed to like to spend most of her time on her belly.
I need to add more foam and place it higher in the hull.
This would be much easier of my custom test tank (Don's pool) was open.
But some of our outside water is still frozen.
So that will be a while.
I would like to thank the 8-balls for not laughing to hard at my sea trials. BD.

Nice work BD, your FS-1 was fun to watch last night. At times, the sub really looked like it was flying. Just a little tweaking and you will have it!

                    Excellent work Smithers !

You might want to put it a brine for, lets say six months. It looks like it could be tough.
