Nope , you're like me , the revs only go down when the smoke comes out!

BD keep the revs down??? BD is addicted to RPM's. And the no paint department is mine, stop cutting in on my claim. I mean, it only took me 2-3 years to paint the Akula, though I was liking the name 'White Russian' a lot.....

You could have just called it George.
        Nuck Nuck Nuck.

The Raider is done except for paint.
I will ballast it out tomorrow morning and hopefully test at Don's tomorrow.
Words can't express how cool this craft looks. Can't wait to try it out.
I ended up making the outer wing panels removable.
This allows me to pack it in a smaller container and be easier to work on.
I wonder what Rick will come up with for a running system.
I am sure the wheels are turning. BD.

            BD,

As usual, very nice engineering. (I recognize that battery compartment! )

Hopefully you will be able to get good depth control. It looks like she'll want to try to keep nosing down due to the hull shape.

First run was a semi success.
Needs tweaks but I can get her dialed in.
              Don took video.
              News at 11.
              Or 11:01.
              Hopefully tomorrow at the latest.

I put to much foam in the back when I trimmed her out.
The pumps could not get a bite without cavitateing.
Once it did get under I found the directional control was amazing.
It can not only spin on its own axis, but spin on its own axis on its side.
Like a table saw blade cutting vertically through the water.
I little voice in my head kept saying "Watch the pool liner, this is a recording"
I looked over and it was not voices in my head but Patti.
I may need to put in one of those flight stabilizers.
I will get the video from Don today. The plan is to re trim the Raider Sunday.
                Then retest. BD.

Hey BD, are the thruster props left and right handed to counter torque or iis it not a problem? PITA

It's not a problem as CI in his infinate wisdom made a true pump jet and added flow correctors.
It straighten's out the swirly water into nonswirlythrust.
At least I think it does.
And stop being such a PITA Mr Pita. BD.

                      Here is the video.
The HD version was to big to upload so this is SD.
Try to focus on what it is doing under water.

I took out the foam and the run was better but the shape of the hull has a bad tendency to nose down and dive with any foreword movement.
                        But Don cured the problem.
His fix was to run upside down.
And it runs great upside down actually. As you can see by the video.
I do have a few ideas to try but right now it is a hoot to run for doing cool maneuvers but for running around from point A to point B it SUCKS. BD.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ar1hW05EzF0I took out the foam and the run was better but the shape of the hull has a bad tendency to nose down and dive with any foreword movement.
...that's what I was afraid of.

Possibly add some sort of flow diverter to the underside of the hull to offset the node-down effect of the main hull? Essentially a static bow plane somewhere under the bow and have it look like it's part of the Raider?

you better put some rubber coming around it to protect the pool from the :knife edge" flight manuvers

Reminds me of the flying sub problems. Do the rear thrust deflectors/planes have enough size to overcome the dive tendency? If so a pitch control might be a big help? How about increasing the size of the deflectors if needed to gain control?

Have you got any room for foam in the upper area of the cabin? This may help with the submerged trim
