      Re: New project aquesition

I finished the thrust deflectors on the Raider.
I am uploading a short video now showing them and the pump jets working on the bench.

I almost scr#wed myself and the whole project.

You have to think of design as you build like playing chess.
You must think many steps ahead of how things will be built or the dreaded interference monster will get you.

It got me but I lucked out.
I was concentrating so much on the bottom half of the hull that I never noticed how much the top tapered in the rear over the pumps.
I will have to cut openings in the top to fit it to the bottom.

But I then noticed there are covers that fit over the top in the rear that remind me of the louvers in the back window of a mustang.
      Eureka I was saved.
They cover the pump area and will allow me to add some ducting as well.
I will post some photos and the utube link soon. BD.

Now you see it now you don't.
Cutouts for the pumps, and the covers to hide them.

I spent all day today working on trimming the top hull to fit the bottom with the cylinders mounted.
Every now and then I put the parts together to see how it will look when done.

Great job as usual, neat and tidy.

                    Thanks Rick.
I finally figured out my battery plan of attack and decided to build a battery tube.
I had just enough space after trimming some plastic from the top and bottom hull to fit it.
                    It houses a 2200ma Lipo.
I was not warm and fuzzy about my other battery idea and the 4000ma was too heavy I think.

                      Re: New project aquesition

Spent some time tying up some loose ends today. The main construction is basically done.
Now it's all the fiddley bits as the Britts say. (Love the Wheeler Dealers)

I am hoping to get it ready to test this week.
                      Time will tell. BD.

                          Thanks Matt.

I did the first in water test yesterday.
All seemed to work well except for some cavitation.
Not a problem if I keep the revs down.
Not a problem at all under water.
And I was not running the covers over the pumps.
It really churned up the laundry tub though.
Now to put all the parts on the hull so I can ballast.
                          Then in pool testing.
Followed someday by some sort of paint.
But don't hold your breath on that one. BD.

If you can make this thing work, you can paint it!
Most of it is a medium grey with some darker shading , start with the louvers maybe a flat black for a nice contrast too the grey.
A little air brush practice on some scrap, less is more when it comes too paint and this comes from a guy who ran his boats for years in grey primer and only got paint on them from casual contact with other subs.!
                            Can't wait for the video.
                            Rick
