Heard of X2Y components? Basically a balanced capacitor network designed to reduce EMI. Heavily used in the automotive sector for suppressing brush noise. Works better than three caps, and will be a snap to install in a motor like that.
You can get them from Digikey.
Have a look at this for information about how they work and how to fit them-
Three caps should also be fine wired as close to the can as possible. Inside the can would be best and looks tidy, but more tricky to install. SMD caps are very small 1206 components are easy to solder with conventional sized soldering kit.
Unacceptable seam. I think you should keep at it until a scanning electron microscope is the only way you can identify it. LOL You have done an amazing job on this sub.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
Thanks guys. Just takes a few extra rounds of bondo and sanding. As for future projects, several targets are on deck after these 2 are completed. A high speed tug and jet patrol boat of some sort.
Just finished up the control surfaces. Nice and smooth and no binding. Does anyone have a source for the double U joints that can handle more than the Dumas dogbones? Need it for 6mm.
Thanks Ralph. I do have 2 of the stainless ones in the mail. Will make a double out of them and see how it works. The Lovejoy couplers have too small of a misalignment tolerance. I can get it aligned well but with the large hull, the flex makes it bind terribly. It needs the double unit.
