This I’ve now done, as evidenced by the photos below.

Yes, getting this boat as accurate as possible is obviously very important to me. But why “urgent,” you ask?

Simple: she goes to get her paint job started tomorrow. ;-)

Gonna look awesome when it’s all painted up.

Thanks, bud. She’s gonna look weathered—with a lot of washes and a little bit of rust: like she just got done having a not-so-easy time of putting down five destroyers.

Forehead slapping moment: I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread since January of LAST year! Yikes! Just forgot all about it, is all. Yes, Lars Liljeblad performed his usual superlative paint job for me—while to his chagrin having to endure my nagging, over-the-shoulder direction, including suffering some frustrating redo's. He's a trooper! See SCR Issue 132 for an enlightening article covering his materials and methods.

Building this boat and doing my best to make it wholly accurate has been quite a journey—an adventure of sorts, really. As I write this, Harder is now in buddy Steve Neill's hands, as he belatedly outfits her with a new ready-made WTC from Bob Martin's outfit, after the intended one—a holdover from the wonderful Big Dave Welch era—simply didn't work out. Anyway, here are some photos, ones you've likely seen before, unfortunately. But hey, once I finally get her out on the water, THEN watch my smoke! Till then, Jeff

Well, this is interesting. Forums are no longer allowing me to upload photos directly from my Mac—only from a separate URL. Guess the above video will have to do. Hope you enjoy!

          Jeff

            Jeff,

That is absolutely amazing work from an amazing modeler! I am so happy to see your final product after so much time and effort involved.
            Regards,

            Matt

Thanks for the update here, Jeff. Of course, the Report had a huge article on your build just recently. Just another reason to join and get the magazine.

Many thanks, Matt and Sam, for both your thoughtful comments. Sharing our model passions with guys like you is what this hobby is all about.

                Best wishes,
                Jeff
