    I am having difficulty figuring

I am having difficulty figuring out how that frame around the edge of the inner tower walls could be right. True there were a number of elevated steps or platforms for the lookouts to stand, but not a continuous ledge like this!

Does anyone have any idea when these kits will kit North America?

Ok, yet another anomaly (I think)
I believe (from the books) that the attack perisicope
housing should be about as high as the sides of the tower.

have a look at the kit
          for comparison.

          Regards,

            The tops of both periscope

The tops of both periscope 'shears' should be approximately the same height as the tower walls.

It's beginning to look like the tower may require the most work in the entire kit!

              [color=#000000]well.....

do not underestimate opening the floodholes

have a look at the improved aft periscope housing and note also the first attempt
to open up the air duct.

the shape of the air duct and the shape of the "chimney"
are documented in the original building plans included
in "vom original bis modell ]

                two new photo's.

                here

                two new photo's.

here is the shape of the "chimney" (fairing ?) on the
                right side of the tower.

and here is the improved air duct
If you look carefully you know where i got the grating from..
The metal grating was sunk into the plastic by
*careful* heating with a soldering iron. works well.
also, the air duct was made slimmer at the top by sanding
the side of the separate air duct part. hope you know what I
                mean.

The attack periscope housing is coming along nicely too.

Is there anybody with more detailed photos of the forward
area of the inside of the tower ?

                  Ronald-
                  nice job on the periscope

                  Ronald-
nice job on the periscope housing...it's looks much more correct witht the height you have given it.

I see that you have used a metal strainer to create the exhaust covers...I have used fiberglass window screen in the past for this (and for intake screens on model tanks...) In fact, there is material sold here for keeping weed out of flower beds that has a very small tight weave that would probably work for a small are such as the tops of the ventilation stacks.

The UZO stand needs to be high enough so that when the binoculars were atatched to the base, they would be above the height of the front tower wall.

Jeff LaRue had a photo (I think) of the front tower wall. Also, the detail from the Accurate Armour tower should help here, right?
Thanks again for posting these shots for us Ronald. It's nice to see the model evolve from a box of parts...
                  cheers,
                  Sam

some more info on the kit.

                      The floodgates underneath the
tower are not correct, at least for U203.
(U-boats in action, photo on Page 22)

                      the floodgates on the kit

the photos I have available suggest the gates are also
grouped in pairs of two being spaced close® together.
I will leave this, correcting it might ruin more than it would
                      do good.

The upper row should have 4 gates more than the lower
row on both sides. two are missing.
I made them with a heated screwdriver, but that
                      turned out less than perfect.

It looks very good and clearly worth the effort!

Regarding the deck - you may want to hold off on opening all those deck slots. I'm told that someone in the U.K. is going to be offering an aftermarket etched brass deck for this kit. (I know since I contacted them about an arrangement to use my drawings. They declined.) If they do not come out with one soon, there are some folks who have been (politely) hounding me to offer one based on my existing drawings.

should be holes. but on the kit they stick out of the hull.
