    Thomas,

I am practising for the paint job now.
The hull is a bit intimidating.
And it has been a while since I painted a kit
    (and that was mostly armour)
I am trying out the pastels, acrylics and
washes, as they are new to this dinosaur
(sorry, I turned four-oh today, feeling *old*..
but then again I will never grow up

    just for fun :
    as it is now
    and another angle

This company is run by Norbert Brueggen in Germany.
I can recommend his work in general.
He has a US representative as well]Subconcepts.com[/url]

The Revell conversion kit is so brand new that
i think it unlikely that subconcepts has them in
                stock already.
But it never hurts to express your interest !

Yes Bruggen is hitting the show 4/21-4/25 and a couple SC members will attend and tell us about the kit. It sounds very interesting.

                    Hi Ronald,
                    So far you work

                    Hi Ronald,
So far you work is perfect, let me suggest you somethink, what about add a simple pice of plastic, like a whall inside the hull so nobody can see through the holes?
Im thinking very seriously about convert a u boat to r/c but first i have to buy all the electronics to do that and they are quiet expensive, its a cool idea anyway.

                      more pictures

                      Thanks thomas !

                      more pictures follow shortly.

I did consider putting black paper underneath the
deck so the see-thru was eliminated.
But I got lazy, so I assembled the rear deck already.
                      will do the front !

I noticed that I could see the holes underneath the
front rudders through the deck. This *must* be fixed
                      with black paper.

I suggest you build a second kit as an R/C model.
And finish this one as an example to us all !

                          I have begun some

                          Hi Guys,

I have begun some general work on my boat. Unfortunately, I don't have a digi cam at the moment. I have drilled out the major upper hull free flooding holes, and were wondering which other to do. The major ones I have done are all the upper waterline ones, and the four around the prop area. Which others would you recommend? I am going to commence the deck ones now, are there ones that should not be done? Still not sure which boat I am actually going to do. I originally wanted to do U-552, but have recently picked up the book, "Deadly Sea", which is an excellent book detailing the lives of U-305 and HMCS St Croix during their personal battle, but I can't find very much info on U-3-5 except that she was Type VIIc and had one CO, Herr Bahr, anf I believe this boat to have a white stencil of a squirrel biting something on the conning tower. Any help to my questions would be appreciated.

                          Thanks all

                          Brad

                            I tried

                            Hi all,

I tried real rust as a pigment powder, and it is
                            looking *very* good.

Brad, I sanded the smaller holes from the inside,
but it is tricky business, because the hull will be
very thin around those area's. So, maybe you're
                            done..
I would advise leaving the deck as it is.

                              Hi Ronald,

After looking at the deck, I believe you are right, a nice wash will suffice. Here's another question, I looked at the anchor position and strongly feel like a few others, that it would foul the starboard forward dive plane area, have you considered moving the anchor recess forward a few mm to the correct position?

                              TIA

                              Brad

                                well , to be frank,

well , to be frank, I got not enough corroberation (?)
on it, and I am not able enough to restore the fine detail
(rivets..) after such an undertaking, so I let it be
                                ( that is called cowardness..)

                                Randy sure is crafty !
