I saw the Bow holes , but On Aft there are NO holes in these drawing !?.
I can see You made some holes on Aft side . All holes whore marked before or You Model or You had to made the marks and then holes ?.

The only thing I did to these drawing was add the measurements.
The flood holes that are on the drawing where there when I found the drawing.
I did not add flood holes. I wouldn't know where they belonged on this class of boat.

I was assigned to the George Washington SSBN 598 during full overhaul in Charleston, S Carolina. I was in the dry dock with a couple of others. Newest one at the time was a Layfette class. SSBN 640 Benjamin Franklin. I did get an inside tour after it returned from sea trials with sonar issues. This would have been around 1969-70. The LA class was being built at Electric Boat but still not in the water. Never saw it.

Be sure to keep clicking on the drawing. It gets bigger and shows much detail.

I don't claim to be an expert on the LA-class, but I do recall that there are ballast tanks in the bow and stern areas only. On the diagram that Ralph provided the link to you can just make out the stern lower ballast grates near where the hull taper begins.

Hopefully someone who has a copy of the Greg Sharpe LA-class drawings will chime in as those drawings show the actual pattern of the flood grates.

To all that are following this thread.
Any one have a Matt Thor 688 boat they can photo the bottom of the boat for the flood hole locations?

Matt's kit was highly detailed and had the flood holes scribed in the hull.
This would be a very good example of where the holes would be.
Matt has always done very good research before releasing any kit.

I am going to wait until we get some answers for these problem .
There a huge amount of work to make those holes and I don't want to work in vane .

Here is a diagram of the ventral side of a Flight I 688. It's from a Russian source, but it's consistent with other diagrams and photos I've seen.

The larger areas in the stern that are side by side and have extended grating louvers on them in the drawing are actually the SPM and the anchor. These are large flat "door" type areas and not grated flood holes. The rest looks pretty good.

Is THE MOST PERFECT PICTURE for me . Now I need to find a place to Print on a scale close to my project .
At these moment I am going to follow as close I can get , the Drawing from the picture .I am NOT concern about how accurate is . Is PERFECT .

in the mean time I made these : ( I was NOT seeing the picture at the time I made what's in the pictures)!,

















if it does not match with what's in the picture , I wheel restore them as close I can to the model from the photo

First Hole :





As material Glass Fiber is great to work with . Easy drill/sand/file .
I don't know about gluing .
What type of glue are You using on Exterior (smooth surface) and interior to fix different components witch are not made from Glass Fiber .
