Here is a photo of the hull so far. I have one layer of 5OZ cloth over the entire surface.
It is going to take time as I have to add the cloth in sections letting the first section set up to a point where I can add more. The 5OZ cloth will not follow the shape well which makes it a PITA!!
My plan is to add one more layer of 2OZ cloth after scuffing the hull up.
Then let it set for a few days and melt out the foam. I can then add more glass to the inside of the hull which will be easier than applying it to the outside. BD. .

What do you think about taking a hot knife (or ice cream scoop)
and cutting the foam out to about a half inch thick or less; then
fiberglass over the foam on the inside encapsulating the foam?
Interesting idea Scott.
Kind of like a surf board.
I will have to ponder that.
But in the meantime,
Made a slight change in plans today.
I added two more layers of 5OZ around the sides.
I will add two more layers of 5OZ on the bottom tomorrow.
That will give me three layers.
I will see how it looks then and make a decision on how to proceed. BD.
BTW-I ordered my motor and motor mount today.
I am getting a Venom 60 turn Rock Crawler motor.
Lots of low end torque so I can run direct drive.
I am going to use a 2" three blade prop ass well in the Kort.

Here is a hairbrained idea I have for maybe putting a water ballast system in the tug. After the pump fills the tank the air bleed exit could be used as a fire monitor. BD.

the challenge is then to have it with the fire extinguisher above water
when the tank is full, i.e. periscope depth exactly.
otherwise, no spout.
I think you do well to consider adding either dive planes or another trim tank
in order to reach the surface when the pipe is totally submerged.
(or be very confident in keeping positive buoyancy in all cases.)
in other words : I like it !
another way to play with fire : bilge pumps/jet drives as drive train and
fire extinguisher ?
I don't actually plan to submerge the tug (Although )
I just wanted to make it lighter to transport using some water as ballast.
But that would really turn some heads at the pond. BD.

I was asked about a name for my tug and I have decided on
Little Toot! The story book tug that saved the day.
Although my best friend told me I should name it Big Toot!
After you he says!!
Nice guy! I wounder what he is trying to tell me. BD.

If you need the fire monitor , you boat is Fuc..d!
I think you should name it YODA, size does not matter , judge me by my size do you? or BDSRV, Big Dave sub rescue vehicle or peanut like the avatar!
Rick
I think what I am going to do once I kick the flue bug I got is take my hotknife tool and try and remove the foam but leave about 1/2" on the sides. I don't think I will add glass to the outside of the foam though.
Then I will see how strong the hull is after this. BD.

Went down to try and do some work and it ain't happenen yet!!
This bug has still got a hold on me.
I did start to cut out the foam.
What a messy job!!!
Here you can get a better idea of the depth of the hull looking inside.
I do have to trim down the sides a bit too shape.
But you can see it is a big cavity for a 14" boat. BD.

I got an email from Rick Teskey asking if I was going to use an Otter box to keep the R/C dry. I said I am now!!
I forgot I had an extra from the FS-1 that should work great.
Thanks Rick!!! BD.
