    Hi Art

    Jack B here
Looks like Recarbs is the way to go! Art I Have a question Do you use a sub safe back up and how do you put it in the system and maybe you could give us a little talk as to how this part works?

    Thanks Again Art

      Art, Thanks for the info

Art, Thanks for the info about the bladder sources. The RCABS system seems simple, safe, and effective (like a good drug).
This sub will be a 'first' for me in a lot of categories. So I have a lot more questions for the experienced sub-makers. For example, is a Speed 400 (w/ gearbox) about right for a small sub about 3' or 4' long x 3" to 4" in beam? Would I need a larger motor to get that high-performance look that one often sees from those atomic subs running at high speed on the surface. Do you guys put any grease on your WTC "O" rings or do you go dry? I wet-sanded the flat edge on my plexiglas cylinder and the end-caps seal with dry O rings with just finger-tight acorn nuts on the threaded rods. Do some of you place NiCds within your WTC space? Molding an epoxy hull will be a first too. So many questions. Finding the answers and finally watching your creation perform like the real thing is what makes this hobby so much fun! You are right Art, I am a youngster of 68 and about to retire. Can't wait to go full time on these subs. Have Fun!

        Jack,
        If I use a SubTech

        Jack,
If I use a SubTech SES II switch to turn the compressor/pump on, it has a built in failsafe that turns the pump on after about 7 seconds in event of an "out of range" or lost signal condition. If I use a mechanical microswitch to turn the pump on, I use a SubTech Sub Safe in series between the servo/switch and the receiver to turn the servo/switch on in the event of a loss of radio signal.
I'll let others chime in to answer the other, non RCABS, general questions.

          According to SubTech the SES

According to SubTech the SES II is no longer avaliable,it was replaced by the SES 3 ,same functions though. That is what I`m using, the only problem with that unit is size for the 2 in. WTC that Dave provides. It is a very tight fit,but it will go with the box on it.Thats why I said to plan ahead and build after you have everything in hand. .I redid my mounting inside the WTC 3 times before I got it rite I just love to rebuild everything at least 2 times just to keep sharp, rite

            Hello to all,

            [color=#000000]Hello to all,

I am called Ramon and I written from Reus- Tarragona - Spain. I am constructing the U-Boot de Revell 1/72 Also with kit WTC, of David. Steve is helping me much, thanks.
My English is very bad, but I will try to haer it best the possible thing. I have located almost all the material to use.
The problem at this moment is to know the returns per minute to which it must turn the motor, and the characteristics of the helices. I am going to use the motor with reduction 7]

              Ramone,
              I just finished my WTC

              Ramone,
I just finished my WTC last nite.I had a lot of problems getting things to fit because I did to much expermenting with locations of different components.Beleive me when I tell you to follow Daves suggestions and photos to the letter, especially when mounting the motors. because you need every bit of space that you can get for fitting the SES-3 on the other end of the compartment. Also I used a Clipard valve setup for the airpump and that takes a little more room and adds more weight.Another thing is to make sure that your receiver is the smallest that you can find.I`m using the AirTronics micro rx and it`s to big,had to do a lot of costom cutting to make it fit.But Daves kit is very good if you don`t try to change his very good plan.

                Hello to all
It is Spain is impossible to find the elements that Dave indicates, I have considered that the selected components, are not but great that the indicated ones by Dave not to have problems.

Referring to the motors, that motor you use?, that reference?, as it is his speed?.

                Thanks Ramon

                  I know quite a few

I know quite a few guys have/are converting the Revell 1/72 type VII to RC, but has anyone ever done a Revell USS Flasher? Will the type VII WTC work? I really prefer the Gato/Baloa style boat, and if there is an already available method for this conversion I would be thrilled. I wouls also welcome any comments on this idea.

                  Thanks

                            Hello,

                            Hello,
In www.balsapr.com I have not found "rpm" of the
                            motors either

I believe that rpm can be between 4200 rpm and 5800 rpm, ratio 6.2:1 or 7:1 --> The result approximated for the speed of the propreller is between 600 rpm and 850 rpm.

Then that helix is better ?, than helix is going to use you ?
