    I opened everything up on

I opened everything up on my hull including the lower flood grates fore and aft,........If you have any problems let me know,we can struggle through together.
    TD
ive also opened the fore and aft flood grates on the hull including the aft ones near the propellers, the way i epoxied the conning tower together forced me to make an emercency incision in the tower (tests in the bath made it start to buckle while it was airtight) i have managed to make a small unnoticebale hole just next to the hatch on the conning tower which seems to have allowed free flooding.
and cheers for the offer of help! i expect il be taking you up on the offer if i get stuck!

ive been following this board since i started my project about a month ago, i have only joined it today as i am now certain that this is something i wish to be a part in, ive read through hundreds of posts since this board begun relating to the revell viic, wtc types, ballast usages, conversion jobs, and general questions, i have noticed some answers to my questions but i was looking for some further explaination as some of the answers were not clear to me, and in my opinion asking a question if you don't understand the instruction is better then blindly stumbling into an expensive mistake. Forgive me if im wrong but i thought this board was about helping people out in the hobby?

      Paul,
I don`t understand what you did unless you assembled the c/t in the box stock method. The c/t shouldn`t hold pressure unless you glued everything shut.If you need any parts, let me know,I have a lot of c/t extra parts.Everybody on this site has been very helpful to me no matter how dumb of a question I ask, because I`m just new at this R/C stuff too.Dave has been really good as far as explaining things that I don`t understand. Also any of the venders that are listed That I have dealt with have been great.SO if I can help in any way let me know.

        yeah i assembled it stock,

yeah i assembled it stock, i don't want to start fiddling around with brass decks etc until i know what im doing, as for the conning tower i think i got a bit more then carried away with the epoxy! it got in every place it possible could! ive cleaned up the tower now and made it look neat again, ive learnt my lesson and shall assemble with a bit more caution!I think il probably end up assembling this sub and making sure i understand the electronics then get hold of another revell and make that one neat with all the brassy bits and spangles!
        epoxy+fingers+slap on stick = bad
epoxy+ carefull application with brush = no sticky fingers and nice looking model!

Sorry if you took it the wrong way. But often people will ask questions that were covered in a thread such as this one only reading the last page.

Even worse they might pass judgment on a tried and trued method that's more than documented in a thread saying that such and such won't work. Been there, done that and I have more than one T-shirt.

Yes it is about helping and I'm trying to help you. That's why I posted the pictures from Dave's CD to clarify that indeed you can place the WTC through the deck.

If there's anything else you need to know we will all be glad to help.

i wasn't trying to demean you in any way, sorry if it came across like that. those pictures of the wtc are very usefull, thank you. ive only got one question left about daves wtc, do the internal supports/bulkheads need to be widened at all to fit the wtc in?
thanks to everyone by the way!

              Hi Paul,

Yes they do. Just use the end caps over the bulkheads before you install them. Mark the ID and hog them out to fit.

Mine was already built for a WTC I made myself so the bulkheads were not hogged out. But when I installed Dave's WTC I was still able with a dremel tool to enlarge them bit by bit until it fit.

              Hope that helps Paul.

                            I am about 3/4 complete

I am about 3/4 complete with my boat, had some problems locating parts, but Dave has helped a lot. This is a very good conversion kit but make sure you have all the components the Dave reccomends or your own design before you start your build and you won`t have the problems that are still slowing my build. My main problem is this is my first R/C boat, and I am learning as I go ,but I`m learning and that`s what it`s all about, rite You must have a good plan before you start on the WTC or you will be in trouble Everything that you get from Dave is the very best that can be had for this boat and Dave is the MAIN MAN as far as I`m concerned If anybody needs any pointers let me know.

                              Hello, I am duke and

Hello, I am duke and a newbie to this hobby. I have been reading with great interest this thread between Dave and Tabledancer, Art Broder and others. I am scratch building a WTC and I am interested in the Art Broder RCABS ballast system. I see the pumps available from Smart Products, Inc. but where are the bladders from?? I have seen the Welch Allyn Latex-free bladders on a web site Allheart.com. Are there any other brands and sizes that you guys have found best for a small sub, say a 1/96 scale Permit?

                              Many Thanks for some info.

                              Duke

                                Welcome to the hobby, youngster.

Welcome to the hobby, youngster. The Safety Store also sells Neoprene and latex bladders. If you're coming to the SubRegatta in Carmel, Indiana, the weekend after next, I should be there with various sizes of surplus latex bladders, as well as some new air pumps. I like your attitude. Let RCABS lift your spirits as well as your sub! The more devotees, the more people in this great hobby!
