    Could I possibly talk

    U812, Steve

Could I possibly talk you into finding out exactly how much water the RCABS bladder forces out? I saw you put your WTC upside down and inflate the bladder in your recent video. Water poured out.

You could deflate the bladder, pour water into the compartment until it is full, and then inflate the bladder fully over a jug or some other container and then messure the exact volume forced out.

My problem is that I don't know how much expelled water is enought to rise a sub "reasonably" out of the water.

If you could tell me the length and diameter of your WTC and the water volume expelled by the bladder, I have a good figure of just how much water is "enough".

Could you help me out here?

      Thanks Steve

      Nice job; never really

      Thanks Steve

Nice job; never really got into Ducted fan; started an SR71 it was about 12 ft long; but then i moved from Alberta back to Ontario and never got into them again; i still flew; in fact I open the only store in town to ever sell them; but after 5 years i sold the store and the new owner ran it into the ground
I stayed away from AC since thisyear when a trade for barrels got me a SIG Kadet 2 with everything including the guys flight box; he just wanted to stick with ships
I do or had a model hanging in the museum in Alberta (not sure if it's still there 1933 AGC Cabin Waco Bipe

        Well back to the topic

Well back to the topic Here on the Seawolf, I know DAve has been putting in some serious time building his seawolf while I just take small steps and waiting for fracking parts (love Battlestar Galatica..FRACK!) but I HOPE to find out the word on my 8 bladed prop for the Seawolf and is it too small to use.
I'm hoping for the best..and I will shoot video and send it to Steve since he can host video..(if that's alright with you Steve!)

          Yes Mark that's fine. Looks

Yes Mark that's fine. Looks like I'll have start another web page on subs and add it to my site along side the airplanes. It's been long enough.

          Now where's my webmaster!

            Jacob,
            In response to your question

            Jacob,
In response to your question about how much water the RCABS bladder can displace, I must say, as much as you need!
My 5ft. long L.A. operates nicely, at every lake I have tried, with just a child size bladder. A 20ft. long sub would probably require a couple of adult bladders and maybe two pumps to operate well.
There are several factors which affect how much water the bladder will displace; 1. Size of bladder 2. Size of WTC (for available air) 3. Space (room) around bladder for maximum expansion. 4. Time air pump is on (and the voltage and specs of the pump, esp. liters/minute and maximum pressure available from the particular model). I have inflated a child size bladder in a pot full of water and displaced the water into a pan and measured it, but I know it was not the maximum amount possible. You can do the same with your pump and bladder. The beauty of RCABS is that is it is extremely simple and adaptable to most wet hull models.

              Art,

              Thanks for the enlightenment. But

              Art,

Thanks for the enlightenment. But I really can't try this approach as I'm not using a RCABS system.

I was looking for a case or two, where people were satisfied with how much their sub rose out of the water when all possible ballast was expelled.

If one divides the maximum volume of expelled water by the total volume of the wtc, a figure comes out. That figure is very usefull when calculating the needed ballast tank volume to a certain size wtc.

Our large wtc has a ratio of 1 liter of waterballast to 8 liters of wtc volume. The figure is then 1/8 or 0.125

With a smaller wtc I'm working on, I can't seem to get the figure higher than 1/10 or 0.100 because of the tank design.

So, my whole problem is centered around whether a figure of 1/10 is enough to rise a sub decently out of the water, or if I have to scrap the design and figure out a new one.

If you think your sub rises decently out of the water (and can recall the expelled volume), I would very much like to know that ballast_volume-to-wtc_volume figure of yours.

                Byron,
                If you want to see

                Byron,
If you want to see a video of the first RCABS equipped sub in action, go to My Webpage and click on "Documents", in the left hand column. You will see my Alfa operating in a 40 ft. test tank. My L.A., with video camera and missile launcher, also utilizes the RCABS.
BigDave adapted the system for his WTC's, which he sells. You can get RCABS 'ready made' from him, or adapt this flexible ballast system youself, to suit your own preferences or WTC size.
Dave, are you doing that still??? Building out RCABS systems?? I have 5 of the mini cuffs you used on the Kilo but have acquired none of the other associated RCABS stuff yet. I would glad pay to get the rest of the stuff built out as I don't have the time or the set up to do workshop stuff.

                  Byron,
                  When Art said ready

                  Byron,
When Art said ready made I believe he was saying ready to make. The WTC is made and ready to put the operating system inside. Using my design or yours. I do not supply compleated units ready to run. Sorry, Dave.

                    That's okay Dave. I will

That's okay Dave. I will get there eventually. Just bought a house with a great hobby space in Westchester so will be able to do more when we move there. Just have to be patient. Also where we are moving has a duck pond I am hoping to run the boats in so all round I am a happy camper, building RCABS not withstanding...

                      Also, do we have any

Also, do we have any video yet of a Seawolf in action?? I know Steve is out waiting for his receiver crystal...

Guys, what's happening?? Haven't seen anyone on this thread for a while? Steve did you get some video of your boat up?

Big Dave, where are you with your boat and the copper impeller??

                          Byron,

                          Been sick and working both.

                          Byron,

Been sick and working both. Bad combo. I did get the Seawolf working great though. The type 7 too. But no video. I'm hoping for this weekend if I feel better.
