    Hi Salmon,

I'm using the 2 bladed prop. Presumably we need a minimal torque setup? I noticed that you have put a useful angle on the fins.

A photo showing my charging setup (The digital display is helpful because it shows the charging process - only takes a few seconds.)

      Nice charging station! Brilliant.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Body spin, I get that as well. When I designed the torpedo body I put a ~7 degree on each fin to counter the prop and try to get a slow roll. The roll is to, in theory, get a straight run.
        I am open to ideas.
        Tom,

Know I'm late in the game here......

Where did you source the props? I can't seem to find anything small enough to accommodate the Launch tube of a 1:48 scale weapon.

Have a couple of ideas attacking this design independently over the winter, but I'll share as I test things out.

          Ed,
On the first page of this thread, post 5, is the 3D files. The propellor should be in there, if not let me know.
There are some 10 Farad capacitors that I will also be playing with. 10 Farads! I should be able to launch in LA and our friends down under can retrieve them LOL

My point is to open up for experimentation and for the benefit of all. Please play and make improvements! Then share so we all can grow.

A bit of a long term test this.

I used Tom's original design of torpedo several times over the summer for 2 torpedoes and they are both still working.

What is notable is that I didn't make much of an attempt to water proof them. I just stuck the bow and stern caps on with silicone rubber and after use I would pull these off to let any water dry off.

They are cheap and easy to make, even with my very simple 3D printer. So good if you must have torpedoes on your sub. (And I think they would also be good for Motor Torpedo boats etc.)

(I can also confirm that the stern vanes are twisted in the right direction to minimise torque spinning.)

Thanks again for making the design available.

                David

                  David,
I am happy that you like them! I need to get back to them, but also need to complete two projects on my bench. Please continue to experiment with them,.
                  Peace,
                  Tom

                    Came across this :

Impressive bit of rocketry and amazing how much energy can be stored. Scale Polaris may be difficult - folding propeller blades?!

David!!!!! That would be cool......I have to save up for more on the torpedoes and I have not forgotten about you!
                      Peace,

The future may be very interesting!

Especially if they make them small - the image show a 250F Ultra Capacitor, heck, that could be good in our subs and a 20 second recharge to boot!

When testing it, it rolled a lot (which makes sense since everything is mounted along the center longitudinal plane. So, to give a little metacentric height added a weight (seen in picture above).
I made a prop that had a very slight angle in the prop (compared to version 1), but had a larger surface. It still made the torpedo spin. Then tried it with Version one prop

and it did not spin..... I may have found the combination.
                          More testing being done.

                                Hi Salmon

                                Firstly Happy New Year!

                                Secondly
Any chance torpedo Mark 2 File will be made available Soon with the better working prop.?
While I`m begging, same question , less prop, about your mine.

                                Thanks for listening and posting.
