    Project 641 Foxtrot Update

Here's an update from the weekend's work.

Someone earlier on SP stated it looked like a "long skinny turd" & that does bear some resemblance in the first photo showing the plug sitting in the cradle used for building the Kilo.

    More to come...

        The third prop directly behind

The third prop directly behind the rudder should help it turn a lot tighter than a Type XXI. Does anyone know if the outer shafts are parallel or splayed out at angles like a Type XXI.

          Plating

Rick sent in several test shots as he starts on the hull plating & oil canning.

Once again these are initial test shots to get an idea on how best to replicate the actual plating of the Foxtrot. Final detail photos will be forthcoming once he is satisfied with the look.

Project 641 Foxtrot Update - Bow Correction

Some more work done on the bow today to add some final texture of the sonar fairings and made the bottom of the bow straight. The plans showed the bottom with more of a bulb.

I wanted to thank Gantu who was kind enough to forward several new drawings over the weekend.

What a beautiful boat! I was just thinking that it would be nice if Trumpeter came out with a "smaller" scale to convert, but then I realized that this sub is only 49" long. I guess I'd been following the 1:72 Seawolf too closely and was thinking this would have been a monster, too.

My first "trainer" sub is a Trumpeter Seawolf and I was thinking about a larger WWII sub (Type VII, Gato, etc) for my second, but I do believe this will be my second boat.

                            I'll be back...
