a picture is worth a thousand words..i wanted everybody that is coming to the regatta to get a good look at what the lake looks like when there is no water in it, ie no obstructions on the bottom and no marine growth that could foul the props on our models also notice the beach area were the two people are and how fast it drops off. if I stand right at the bottom right infront of the beach it would be over my head and im 6'8"!!! so keep this in mind when you are launching. and third prepare your subs for running in the north atlantic... meaning the water that is in the pond was snow less than 24 hours before it was in the pond so make sure your seals are good before you launch.. I am gona do another recon of the lake soon to get a better picture of the water so stay tuned
sigpic. You have to ask yourself one question...would the admiral approve
it should arrive in time... then we will take the Delta sub-cam up a notch and see how the trout look in 3D
i myself am curious what social damage 3d duck butt will do if unleashed on the world.
(for those who have no idea what i am talking about here, there is a youtube video taken at last summer's keystone funrun) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBIsfsLUOEY - specifically look at about the 2:57 mark.
someone where i work has already suggested that we edit the movie and throw a little CGI in for the next big syfy channel movie... Troutnado 3D
anybody know how to get trout to fly?
in all seriousness, this should be an interesting thing to try when we have the evening-lights run in the pool. several subs in frame running around should make for an interesting 3D effect.
Two more weeks! Looking forward to seeing ya'll and learning from Tim and Smooth-On. I had hoped to have cast up 30 small subs to give away to kids that show up, but I have run out of time and money because of the new house. Note to myself, plan something like this a year in advance.
Last reminder to register.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
Do we have any kind of expected attendance count yet for this event? I know it'll change the closer we get, and I'm not expecting anything exact, but are we anticipating ... More than 30? More than 50? What? Any ideas? (I have my reasons for asking...)
There will be more than that! Early head counts are always way off. A good number always wait until the last minute. Take any early estimate with a grain of salt.
Tom S. also tells me he's planning to buoy-mark the deep drop-off area. He's also bringing submerged hoops and his old "minefield" as fun or competition obstacles. Thanks, Tom!
