No Problem using the 2.4 GHz Channels as long as you are
using a Transmitter that is FCC Part 15 Compliant.
Most of the Commercial 2.4 GHz R/C transmitter systems
available are compliant.
(Futaba, Hitec, etc.)
As far as the 900 MHz band (902 -928 MHz) Yes you can
operate in this band. But you still need to be compliant to the
rules outlined in FCC Part 15.249 and 15.247 with respect
to tx power levels and radio emissions so as to
avoid harmful interference with other radio services.

2025 Captain Choice Awards and Captain Choice Big Dave’s ENGINEERING Award:
This year we will again have the Captain Choice Awards and the Captain Choice Big Dave’s ENGINEERING Award.
ALL Carmel 2025 R/C SubRegatta registered R/C Sub Mariner Captains
will vote for their favorite R/C Submarine that is present at the 2025
Carmel SubRegatta. (Captain Choice Award)
There will be a second ballot where ALL Carmel 2025 R/C SubRegatta
registered R/C Sub Mariner Captains will ALSO vote for what they
believe is the BEST Engineered R/C Submarine at the 2025 R/C SubRegatta.
(Captain Choice Big Dave’s Engineering Award)
Votes will be in the Goodie bag.
There is a Box on the Registration table where the votes can be submitted.
All participating R/C Sub Mariner Captain’s Submarines are eligible for
the Captain Choice Award AND the Big Dave’s ENGINEERING Award.
(Except for the 2024 Submarine Captain Choice and Big Dave’s
Engineering winners.)
As per tradition, the 2024 1st place Captain Choice Submarine Winner, Jim Butt’s Holland VI R/C Submarine will NOT be eligible for the 2025
SubRegatta’s Captain Choice award, but the Holland VI R/C Submarine may participate in the 2025 SubRegatta Captain Choice Big Dave’s
Engineering Award.
Rick Teskey’s Proteus Submarine which won the 2024 Big Dave’s
Engineering Award, is NOT be eligible for the 2025 SubRegatta’s
Big Dave’s Engineering Award, but The Proteus Submarine may participate in the Captain Choice Award.
This prevents one boat from winning every year!
NOTE: BOTH R/C Submarines will be eligible for both awards again in 2026.
Each participating R/C Sub Mariner Captain also will be assigned a number
for each boat entered. This number will be used to identify the R/C Submarine
on the vote ballots. Awards will be announced on Saturday.
Again, There is a Box on the Registration table where the votes can
be submitted.
As you may know, for the past 7 years that I have attended the Carmel meet, I have spent an enormous amount of money on raffle tickets and have won many great prizes. Thank you all who have been contributing to the raffle! I would like to point out that the raffle ticket money goes to the rental of the tents, chairs, and tables which is now over $4000 per event. PLEASE, BUY MORE TICKETS IF YOU FEEL LIKE IT. further, if you have anything to contribute to the raffle, by all means make somebody else happy! My pic from 2023....
