Still have the 1/72 scale Gato for the raffle. You'll have to wipe the two years of dust off of it.

CARMEL R/C SUB FUN RUN LUNCH AND LEARN

We are planning on having a LUNCH AND LEARN session
on Saturday August 13 under the tent.

We are also looking for volunteers and suggestions for topics that are
related to the R/C Submarine Hobby.

The presentations will be limited to approximately 10 to 15 minutes
so as to get a variation of topics.

The topics can be as simple as the different types of ballast systems,
batteries, or why a submarine requires a ballast system at all.
(Static vs Dynamic dive systems, a beginners topic)

Back in 2019 before the pandemic, LUNCH was a “BOX” lunch that was
ordered at the time of Carmel registration. It included a sandwich, chips and a pickle.
Presently we are still working out the details.

Please use this thread to suggest some topics related to the R/C Submarine Hobby.

Also if you are interested in presenting a short topic please PM me (Don Osler)
            or PM Don Spielberger.

Is it possible to get a full/detailed Itinerary of the event which includes On and offsite events? Similar to this....

We do post an Itinerary of the events on this thread when the event gets closer.
We also place a copy of this Itinerary in the pouches that each Registered Sub
                  Captain receive when they arrive.

We DO NOT use military time as there are civilian Sub Captains at the event.

Please refer to the Itinerary posted in the 2019 Carmel R/C Sub Fun Run as an example
                  of the format we use.

                  Hope this answers your concern.

As a new sub builder there are two topics I'd like to suggest for the lunch n learn.
                    1. 3d printing and the R/C submarine hobby. Topic could include types of filaments and their advantages/disadvantages, filament vs resin, appropriate materials for appropriate jobs on the construction and maybe even generic settings that seem to produce good results.
                    2. Practical demonstration of use of 2.4GHz for subs. This would show modification of receiver/antenna connections and coax cable runs. Essentially cover the material that has been written by others, so maybe this has already been done. One of the biggest challenges I have had moving into this branch of the hobby is coming up with 4-6ch FM 75MHz receivers to use in subs. This is going to force any new person into periscope depth running at 2.4GHz with available equipment and seeing how other people approach this seems like good knowledge to spread around.

                      Abell,
Those are all great suggestions. The 3D printing is always a good topic. At
the last Carmel Sub Fun Run in 2019 (before Covid hit) we had a great
presentation on 3D printing which included some of the R/C Sub hulls that were
printed for the demonstration. As we get closer in time to the Fun Run,
we will let everyone know what topics we chose.

                      Thanks for your input

                          Don,

I just about exclusively run 2.4Ghz and plan on bringing at least two, 1:48 Scale boats with full Telemetry to demo and let others sail as a practical demonstration.

I can also give an in-depth "How to" seminar as it's been my choice of frequency for the past 4-5 years.

How "in depth" would be the type of facility: Outdoor ad hoc group to an actual Classroom or Seminar environment.

Hence the reason behind the original itinerary question.

That's of course if there is any interest.

                          Ed

                            Bob and Ed,
                            Thanks for the presentations!
We are tentatively planning on having the Saturday lunch and
learn as well as a Saturday night Tech session.
In the past, we have had the Saturday night tech session
at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference room. As of now,
we are checking to see if that conference room is available.
We will let you know where and when as we get a bit
                            closer to the Fun Run.

We are presently getting inquiries on when the pre-registration link will be up and running.

We are presently in the process of working with the new WebMaster to get the pre-registration
link up and running. Stay tuned and hopefully it will be up soon.
