Soo kewl,
Where did you find the dual stick module.
On mine 75 MHZ 4 chnl i ordered one from robbe and it was very pricey.
I did not think that the 433 MHZ would work on these old radios.
Do you have instruction on this conversion?

so this is how i make my pins connection for testing




my set up is base on the JR unit,was thinking buying the 9x transmitter BUT now is on hold (Do I realy need mixing)

DO NOT CONNECT TO A FUTABA UNIT THE CONNECTION PINS IN, IS NOT THE SAME!

just got 3 sets of futaba TX 100 MW units (smaller too) and RX from the mailman, for just $20 each. i can't hold back need to smoke them.

Turning a RX in to TX just way too much work, leds, switch, transistor, beeper, shorting things out, smoking...............

rewire to Futaba module





doesn't look good but it work.

and cut up a working 27mhz TX (but the 27mhz RX sucks, turn the TX off it goes nuts), the TX was not deep enough for the module...................stuffed in any way.










dust off your old 72mhz TX give it a try. (but don't touch your 75mhz may not find another one!)

so back to study, or FCC will come after me!

after flashed the "new software"................
1/2 my hair came off, i pull them out one at at a time

the default setting is for the newer 8 channels transmitter, my is a VERY cheap old 4 channels one.
change any "8" in to a "4" and slow down the module's timing for the servos jitter.

it's alive..............with Abby Normal software setting...........

anyone going to the WRAM show?

its cool that you were able to hack the ancient transmitter to work with all this new stuff...

I am surprised you had to change the "8"s to "4"s... that should not matter. The standard PPM protocol has space for 8 channels. whether the transmitter uses all 8 or not, the receiver shouldn't care.... but i have seen weirder things happen. maybe this

however, its an interesting comment about slowing down the module's timing to reduce servo jitter. I will have to check that out.


was there a reason you went with JR style module on one, and futaba style on the other?

sorry about the talking to myself parts.

after the JR module didn't bind I order more guinea pigs, Futaba module was on sale for $20 Vs $30 for JR one, could smoked more for $10 less......

sine I don't have any TX on hand that will take the JR or Futaba module yet, the cheap one win, I AM CHEAPsub!

come to think of it, Futaba module is at a dead end, no new TX will take it, all are pre 2.4 Ghz and no telemetry build in aka old, but good and cheap for DIY.

highly illogical thinking, now I end up with 5 sets of TX/RX.

after i changed to 4 ch. ppm input the binding begin to work.



and slow down (AOL dail up days ) stop the servo chatter, the old attack 4 TX can't keep up with the module, "the newer one" can set to higher rate. range test needed to be done. try to get the HAM before RAM Show.

i know that the TX and RX have to be running the same version of the OpenLRSng firmware for them to bind. you might want to verify that they are all running the same version. I did that to myself with 2 of my receivers. it took me a couple DAYS to figure that one out.

after seeing your setup screen dumps... very interesting what you had to do to make it work. the 4800 baud and 25 hertz refresh should increase your stability for the signal reception as well. you should get better submerged reception... fewer failsafe situations.

as far as the futaba module is concerned... you can pry them out of my cold dead hands when the three futaba 9caps, and the robbe fc28 i own finally die. i guess i could replace them with a taranis or two.

but who knows. being the oddball gadget freak that i am, i am thinking that a 433mhz upgraded Ace Nautical Commander might be an interesting project.... kind of old school meets new. i had never thought about modifying the case to make a futaba module fit.


not to mention my tablet transmitter accessory. it is designed to use the futaba module too.

do you have any more retired transmitters on the chopping block?

find a Ace Sub Commander, stuff a 9XR main board ($ 5.00)

Or find a old tube radio

software up dates, new tools, get used to it by now from work.

Re installing these modules in older transmitters, isn't it easier just to take the board out of the module box and install it directly inside the case?

for an Ace Nautical commander, i would be torn between the easy route of putting the module's circuit board inside the case, and modifying the case to fit a futaba module. the modifying the case to fit the module seems to be the "geekier" choice.

Since I'm a licensed ham, I will have to check this out. My sub is in pieces and radio died for it.
