I missed the tie in with the Lunar Models FS kit...why didn't you take the Lunar Models FS hull and just make a mold from it and then cast hull halves?
What would be the fun of that.
Actually if I had purchased a kit I would have just converted it to R/C. I did look into getting one but my emails were never returned. I would not want to mold someone else’s hull as well. Plus this only costs me a chunk of foam and some liquid plastic. No molding required.
BTW- I snuck down to the dockyard after dinner and checked out the hull. Here are some photos. The plastic was solid after 3 Hours.

Just a little heads up on the Shell Skock.
I have the slow. You get about 8 minutes. It will set up to put on another layer in a little over one hour. It is $28.33 for 3.6 LBS. I would say maybe 50 liquid OZ. You could easily brush this into a rubber mold and end up with a plastic part with all the detail of the mold. Even with the slow you have to work quick. This way you don't need a mold just a plug but it will take a bit of sanding to smooth out the surface. BD.

Here is the hull with about three coats of plastic. It should be enough to sand to a smooth and stright shape. I am trying for around 1/8" thickness. In my crystal ball I see a lot of sanding in my future.
It seems to sand about the same as Alumilite or Smooth Cast plastic. BD.

I was going to start some sanding outside today but it is too bloody hot as the britts would say!!
It would be to messy to do inside.
It is like 95 outside and humid!! .
We are not use to that in the great white north. BD.

Well it has been a while but I am going to try and finally sand the goopy outside of the FS-1 too its final shape. .
I think 4 months should be enough time to cure the plastic.
I really hate this part (sanding) but it has to get done.
It is nice and cool outside now (50-70) so I have no excuse.
I will let you know soo how I make out. BD.

Did I happen to mention how much I hate sanding.
One full hour with a Makita palm sander armed with Norton 60 grit and the bottom is still not done.
My arms are going to kill me tomorrow.
I was sitting in a chair in the middle of the driveway just covered in plastic dust.
It is coming out nice though.
I don't want to attack the surface with anything more distructive than the 60 grit for fear of breaking through to the foam.
I will finish with a quote I am fond of from one of the cartoon greats of my generation. (Super Chicken)

Dave
What are you doing working on that project. Your supposed to be working on the top secret project. Put down your sander and pick up your tools. Get to work, security is watching.
