Well I was not going to work today but I did promise some photos of my cylinder install plan.
I had stated earlier in this thread I got the idea from my cousin Donnie to open up the sub at the center joint.
It has a perfect flange already for doing this. I would rather have a thin hairline seam around the center of the hull than attempt to cut the deck section off.
The only cutting I did was two small cuts at the rear so I could attach the pointed rear deck overhang to the rear fin section. This allows me full access to the PPJ, dive plane, and rudder connections.
To insert the cylinder it is a simple matter to slide the rear into the rear hull section and engage the pins in the rear stop. Then slide the front hull section over the front of the cylinder engaging the threaded brass rods into the brass alignment tubes. Then two brass knurled nuts hold the assembly together. They are accessed through the FS-1 hatch as is the battery and pressure tank for the R system.
The photos should explain what I am talking about. I would have liked to have the cylinder a little further rearward but the PPJ takes up a lot of room. Hopefully she will trim out OK as the Seaview looks like it sits bow high in surface trim. In dive trim I can place the bladder at the CG so it will not be a problem. BD.

BD I like it. Very practical. But I see now my idea of having the bridge up front is out of the question.
I plan to light mine. Will make some kind of black light transparency for the front windows. Sound good? I could make you one too. Question is what material.
As I recall there's a clear for this very purpose for ink jet printers . I could seal it.
What I would do in build the interior for when it's sitting static. Light it on the bench, take a picture and fix it up in PS and print it. Sound good?
BD as stated will only be making a few for friends. Mike Caswell has his gas system WTC or make your own.
BD has decided this due to the Merriman design WTC and fittings. You will find a flyer for buying this RC upgrade in your box when you buy the kit. You'll just have to go with the gas system. Sorry.
Thanks Steve. http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_biggrin.gif
As
Thanks Steve.
As of this time I do not intend to make the Seaview a cylinder kit, Sorry.
Heck, I am not even sure it will work yet.
I know the cylinder works, but work properly in the Seaview is another story. I don't see why it would not but you never know.
When I design a kit for production I document everything and make sure it is repeatable by someone else, not just me. With this build I am just building for me with minimum documentation. That is what takes the most time in getting a kit together, proper documentation. Steve can attest to this. You can't think of everything and sometimes things fall through the cracks but it still takes a lot of time to try and do it right.
But who knows, maybe if it works out well I can work up a basic kit. For now I am just building. BD.

Thanks for posting the pictures of your unit. They're a help for setting up the rc version. I got my SEAVIEW with the Merriman unit from Caswell on June 13. There was no DVD with pictures or directions; according to Caswell, he's waiting for Merriman to finish it. [quote]Posted]
Since I already have a couple of Merriman's WTC's, setting up the SEAVIEW SubDriver isn't a big deal for me. I've already figured out most of the pieces that are included with the Caswwell/Merriman unit. It's always nice to see how others are doing it.
Hi Bob,
It is always great to see how someone else attacks the same task.
Here are a few more photos of the cylinder install. You can see the bulkhead I installed in the bow to support the front of the cylinder and act as a support for the knurled nuts. The white canister is the pressure tank for the high pressure R side for the ballast system. BD.

Yea!! http://www.subcommittee.com/forum/icon_lol.gif
It took me
Yea!!
It took me a few tries to get it all in there. It was like a Chinese puzzle. You move one thing and another will not fit.
I would not say I have room to spare, but now that I have it all set nothing is interfering, just close!! BD.
