    Kevin,

    I'm liking it so

    Kevin,

    I'm liking it so far.

One thing you might want to do throughout this little project is include photos of the tools and materials that you are using at each step, like Steve did with his XVII project. I find it helpful. I pretty much always discover a new technique, tool, or material to add to my aresenal.

    Thanks for the thread.

    Myles.

D amn I'm glad to see this!

Kevin go! This is what the craft is all about.

And as Adam said, thanks for the kind words. I'll let you build and watch you for a change. I need a break!

        This is great.

          Kevin,

          In your step there

          Kevin,

In your step there where you "wittled" the foam away, would a small palm sander work for this ? or do you need the control of manually using the knife ?

          Myles.

            Myles,

            I'll make a point of

            Myles,

I'll make a point of snapping shots of the tools and tooling I'm using as well, although so far that's been limited to a utility knife and a bandsaw.

I don't think it would be terribly wise to use a palm sander on the foam plug. I suspect it would make a mess of the foam and be difficult to control with sufficient precision to not leave large gouges that will only have to be filled in again later. I will however make thorough use of it once I have the glass cloth down. For now I'll be doing all my sanding with a bar sander (22" x 2") on the straight-aways and a drywaller's sanding pad (10" x 4", backed with 1/4" foam) for the "spherical" sections, each loaded with 80 grit paper. I'll snap a shot of these as soon as I get home.

              Kevin,

              Thanks a lot for sharing

              Kevin,

Thanks a lot for sharing the building. The Oscar II is one of my favourites subs so, I am really interesting with this building.
This section is becoming better and better every day! I loved Steve's building of his amazing type XVII, and now an Oscar II... brilliant!
              Keep them coming!

                    Wayne,

                    There ya go!

Simple enough to do. Just open the images on your member homepage, right click on the image, and scroll down to 'properties' at the bottom of the pop-up.

In the window that opens you should see in the middle, the correct URL for the image. Click and drag with the left button to highlight it and copy the image URL to the clipboard.

Then come back to the message board, and use the 'image' button in the 'ib code' buttons above the message pane.

Paste the URL into the window that opens up when you click 'image' and then hit retuen- the correct syntax will appear in the message pane in order to post the image.

Repeat the above for all images (takes longer to explain than do!)

                    Andy

This one is still under construction, the builder just finished a super nice Kilo. 1/72 scale, so she is big. Cannot wait to see how the 1/96 turns out. We have been working on information for good detail. I like this project.

                          They are VERY good.

                                Hi Pablo,

                                Thank you for posting

                                Hi Pablo,

Thank you for posting the link to all those photos of the recovered Kursk! (I should have said something a while back.) From the photos I have the inside of the missile doors look very similar to the grey/black of the outside of the hull, although the stiffening plate should be a bit lighter. I can't remember how this photo came into my posession, but...

At this time I've still not decided which Oscar II I'll represent, but I am leaning towards the Kursk. Does anyone know when/why the crest was painted(?) on the front of the sail? Or what the white insigia on the side of the sail was?
