    Fantasy boat project....

Got a bit tired designing scale models on scarce info. So I took raw dimensions of a class 209 boat and got crazy with the rest. Those are the results:

      Looks like a plausible design.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

It's based on a 210 class boat. I just made it sleeker. Modern boats are designed for function, and that often screws up the lines of a boat. I wanted to design a modern boat, but with the elegant lines of e.g. a type VIIc

Continued with the design of the WTC of the boat. Will be small and simple. Diving system is based on a peristaltic pump that pumps water into an infaltable rubber sack. Cheap, reliable, but a bit slow.

Swap the motor out for a brushless motor and you may be shocked just how much faster your bladder fills up!

Rapidly filling bladders sounds more like a personal problem Matt.
                Lol
Actually I would be worried about abrasion on the tubing from the faster revolutions.
But I don't know a lot about those pumps.
We did use them on my one job for fluid transfer but replaced them after each use. BD

David, I'm not sure I want to know about your "fluid transfer job" ....

Yeah....we all are getting older. Goes with the territory.

The stock tubing is changed out for Tygon tubing which has more capacity due to its reduced wall thickness, and on top of that Tygon wears like iron. I have had no trouble so far....
                    Regards,

                    Matt

I already have posted some drawings of my fantasy boat project, which is loosely based on a 209 type. This is a project that I'm slowly starting right now. After the extremely complex U-1 and the still very complex Nautilus build, the modelers heart longs for something much more simple. This is going to be it...a small boat with WTC, single screw, no milled parts (with exception of the hull masters).

It's going to look somewhat like that:

I'll kick off with the WTC. All very simple. The structure parts were 3d printed. I'll make silicon moulds based on them and then cast PU parts. The dice system will use a peristaltic pump and an inflatable rubber tank.

                        This si the design::

And the first 3d parts arrived today....they are green because I ordered them on St.Patrick's day and green plastic was cheaper that day ;-)

                        Bajonet catch fits tight:

what material did he print with and do you know what some of his settings were ... i think the guy doin my stuff is still learning and i cant talk him into doing less infill..id like it all solid but he says it cracks if he sets it to 100%infill.. your stuff looks great

As I understand, and my playing with 3D printing, is not consistent to what he says, but even if it was, 100% infill takes a much longer time toprint and uses a bunch of material. Is he getting paid for time and material?
