I would have gone with the MACK Products #2041-40 Motor-Gear box unit. I have one of the MACK Products #2500-2530 Twin Motor Gear Box units in my model of USCGC TAMAROA.

I have the same running gear installed in my tug. May not be the most up-to-date system, but works perfectly fine.

They work great. They just tend to be a bit noisy.
I have a 1 to 4 gearbox in one of my battleships.
It will wake the dead when running.
It should have come with Zombie repellent. BD

dave, you're right. it's noisy as hell!

anyways....new motor came in today. no problems with this one. everything was installed and wired up. buck shot was used as ballast, about 9 pounds worth. everything seems to be ok. i think i can declare her finished.

I just wanted to say I had the pleasure of seeing Erich's tug at our FunRun this weekend and the photos do not do the build justice. He did an amazing job on the boat. BD

Great video and well done. We need more of these.
                  Peace,
                  Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
