        Thanks for the update.

Look forward to receiving the new deck.

Please do not worry about the Revell deck. I really do not need it. Thank you for the offer though !

I have six subs, and they are all in various states of disrepair and construction. That should keep me busy enough !

            Please give me a status

            Jason

Please give me a status on the replacement deck.

You had stated that it would ship on May 12th.

Can you please verify that it did ?

I would like to finish my model, prior to the regatta.

Plus it has now been over a month waitting on a replacement.

If you feel that this has become a burden on you, please just refund me my money.

At this point I will use Jeff LaRue’s deck to finish the sub.

Sorry, but my patience with you has run out.

            Nick

              No it has not shipped

No it has not shipped yet. It's sitting in a stack waiting to go out with 12 others. I am waiting on some phone numbers for customs declarations on some other guys, but I can send yours out tomorrow without further ado. Or you can have your money back if your fed up and I understand that. You just need to ship me back the original defective one and I'll paypal back all your money plus $10.

I would rather have the deck Jason.

Its just that I am getting impatient because of the regatta.

I will wait for the shippment.

                Thank you

I just received the replacement deck and it looks phenomenal !

Excellent work ! The lines are crisp and sharpe. The detail is amazing. Day and night between the original one.

For those that have been thinking about getting a deck from Jason, I can only say this.

                    Get one !

The pictures on his web site do not do justice to the deck.

                    Thanks

Wow, thanks for the plug. You better believe I looked that one over before I sent it out. All I would need is for you to get two mistakes in a row.

I got my deck and tower weathered a bit. I'm no expert, but I thought I would post a page showing how I painted it, for what it's worth. I have not yet used an airbrush on it, but I like how it's coming along.

My wife saw me drybrushing on the light grey salt spray on the deck and referred to that as a "faux tech". Faux techniques are very fashionable for do-it-yourself painters, especially women who watch Home and Garden Television like my wife. Anyway, I overheard her telling my mother she didn't know I had such skills and that she would be "putting those to good use" in the future. Uh oh.

It is .020", which is .5mm

It's the same thickness that OTW uses on the decks included with their kits.

                              Well the reason way I’am

Well the reason way I’am asking is that I am trying to etch some details to my U-177 [Engel]. However I can’t get it right, when I spray the photo resist it gets uneven. Witch result in some area with under-developed and some areas over-developed.
My negative isn’t perfect either. I’ve tried two different negatives. First I used plain paper. Paper gets a good contrast but the light can’t pass through. I then used overhead paper but this time the black can’t block the light well enough.

I will try to get a professional to print the negative witch hopefully will solve the negative problem. But I can’t see a solution on the problem with the resist coating.

I realize that it can be a conflict of interest for safrole because he is selling his brass plates but I hope some one can give my some good advice. I can assure safrole that I’m not planning on selling the brass work. It's only for my sub

Using thicker brass is not necessarily better.....

The thicker the brass, the more "undercutting" you will get which can result in raged and angled etched edges. Using two negatives (top and bottom) can help to greatly reduce this effect.

For the parts that I produce for small(er) models, as well as for finely detailed items, I use material that is no more than 0.010" thick.
