I am experimenting with another free site to post photos here - This is my homebrew ROV I mentioned in my first post...

This free provider gives you as many two page sites for free that you want and it looks as though they don't block you from using it to store photos as I am doing here.

It is at 81X Free websites

        POSTING PHOTOS ON THIS SITE

        POSTING PHOTOS ON THIS SITE

To "post" photos on this forum, they actually have to be posted on a website somewhere else and they are just linked to this forum.

There are a number of free website providers out there - one I have found that doesn't block you from linking (Tripod does) is 81X Free Websites.

Just go to the above site, register, upload your digital pictures and publish them on your free pages by following 81X's fairly simple instructions. If you don't mess around adding captions and text, it takes about five minutes.

Then - and here's the important part, after it's published, go to your 81x website on the net and right click on the picture and go to "properties." Then block in the URL of the photo - for instance the one for the pic of my ROV above is http://www.81x.com/Authors/subhuman/ROV2.jpg

After you have it blocked in copy it (Ctrl-C).

Now, come back to the SC forums and start your message. When you want to insert the photo, click on the Image button at the top of the screen and paste the URL of your photo (Ctrl-V) into the window. (Note that it automatically sticks an http:// in the window. Be careful not to add a second one - if you do, it won't work!)

        Finish up your message,

Preview the post (use Preview Post) button to see if it looks okay.

If it passes muster, click on the "Add Reply" button.

And that's it. It seems complicated but if you have basic computer skills you can do it - heck if you can build a model sub, your certainly can post a link to a photo of it.

It seems hard the first time you do it - after that it's smooth sailing!

Good luck! Shoot me an email if you need help.

        Tim Smalley

BTW - If once it's up, you notice you messed something up, you can always hit the Edit button and you can change it - even after its posted on this board! (You can only edit your OWN messages.)

I have a 1/60 Type ViiD on the stocks. Its my first attempt and the plug (fibreglass on polyurethane foam) is nearly ready - just waiting for the warm spring weather here in the UK when I get the best chance of a good mould.

I've learned some lessons the hard way & am looking forward to the more mechanical & electronic stuff.

            thor ohio on order.

this los angeles kit is VERY well done. i have been going pretty slow on it just because i dont want to do anything i will be sorry for on such a nice kit.

i think the sturgeon will be just as good, its a beautiful kit and everything on is fits and looks very precise. i would really like to wait until the new thor ballast system comes out to build this one.

the only reason i decided to use the wtc 3.5 on the LA is so that i could run my skipjack and LA at the same time.

Working on rebuilding (rediesigning) the homemade WTC for my 1/72 scale type VIIc U-552. It was highly modified from a Combat Models vacuuform hull, and mostly scratchbuilt. The WTC is now a 2.25 " Lexan tube 13" long that holds all the electronics (miniaturization is the key) and the pump/iv bag ballast system. Will try to get some shots of the new interior setup soon. Hope to have water trials later this summer.

                  Once I buy the foam

Once I buy the foam I'll be scratchbuilding a 1/90 Typhoon. Still tryin to figure out how I'll get it to the lake...it probably won't fit in the car! (Nissan Sentra) I'll be referring to http://www.hrfsbo.com/sub quite a bit.... awesome site!

Im Working on a 32P Ohio Class submarine,

Current state is that Im missing 3 Battery cells to complete the battery pack, Painting, Trimming, Testing - And it should be on the seas (ponds).

I hope to get it diving this summer.

Future plans are Missiles, Camera, and bov prop - Maybe experiment with gas/compressed air ballast system.

Just finished my type IIC U-Boat after the last year and a half, in 1/32nd scale. She put to sea for the first time last Saturday. Ran good for the first patrol. All scratch built. Will have it in Carmel IN. Next month, hope to see some of you guys there. Can't wait! Jeff Jones

Well started working on my Thor Permit ( USS Plunger) a Mare Island boat. Nice kit and really well done from Matt Thor. Boat is coming along nicely and from what I see should be very fast and controllable. Also in wings waiting is another Thor kit The 1/72 Alfa. Will be using a Manley WTC 3.5 for the Alfa.
Also after 6 years my USS Scamp will be in the Yard for overhaul as it is showing wear. But should be at October 03 San Francisco regatta along with USS Plunger, and USS Pogy. Have a good what is left of winter..... DrDAve

For me, it's an Engel Typhoon with all the available accessories. So far the project has come along quite well, although it's taken me quite awhile (started in November 2001). Lots of other projects have gotten in the way and has been a bit of a battle to keep up with all of them. This kit is my first attempt at any R/C modeling project, and was a bit daunting at first, but the more I have gotten into it, the easier it has become, patience has been key. Many thanks go to the numerous SubCom members that have so graciously given their expertise when I asked for it. Looking forward to a launch date of early July, 2003. My digital camera is in for a repair, but will be sending a few photos soon hopefully. Have been thinking already of my next project, USS Plunger SSN 595. A Thor Kit maybe? Here goes another 20,000 questions! Thank goodness for good friends, and the SubCommittee.

Iv'e done everything from building custom Harleys to manufacturing exhibition class display fireworks. Building a model submarine has been the most satisfying. Maybe there's just less stress eh? After being in the plating business for the past 30 years, I think I need that.
