Hello Tim,

Well, the prototype for my 1/96 Skate is nearing completion and, after sea trials, should be ready for a late Spring/early Summer release. The photo is of the plug master which was supplied by Garry Gray. The space saving size of the Skate and her high level of prefabrication should make her a good choice for both the novice and advanced builder.

Work on the 1/96 Triton is also moving along and arrangements for both the Nautilus (571) and a Hotel Class (K19) in 1/96 have also been made.

More info soon,

Hi,

I'm building the "shark-sub" from the Tintin comics, it looks like this]http://www.psubs.org/pic/wet/TinTin.jpg[/img]

I'm currently building a positive plug from "blue foam" and will use it only once, this will be my first scratch built fiber glass boat. The plug is almost done, I'm currently turning/sanding it in a lathe.

Well I am working

Hello Group,

Well I am working on a few things right now .
I am still working on my odd sale RC Gato Sub , trying to
get the plug sanded smooth and to the proper shape and
adding details .
Plus I am working on my geardrive for the bow planes .
I had a smaller unit in my first scratch built rc sub and it
worked great , I was able to raise and lower the bow planes
so fast the sub looked like it was trying to fly .
The new unit has steel turnbuckles and works better .
With this unit I am able to control the bow planes angle also.

Looks like everyone is busy and doing some outstanding
work .
Is anyone working on a Thor Design Alfa Class sub ??

Well, One of my endeavours

Well, One of my endeavours is to convert a trumpeter kilo
static kit to R/C.

This plastic kit is the largest I ever saw.
It measures over half a meter, and can house a
6cm dia wtc. I wonder how large the dumas kilo
actually is ?
I will make the wtc myself.
The ring in the lower hull is a part of a plastic pipe
which will become the wtc.
I am still wondering if I will make it a static diver or not.

have a look, the thing in the foreground is a CD cover

Heyy ! I can edit my messages after posting ! neat !

Three projects.

1. Completing H.M.S. Trenchant.

Three projects.

1. Completing H.M.S. Trenchant. She is far from the superb 1/64 'stock' kit sold by Sheerline by now. Much more detail added, new flank arrays, a new more detailed sail or 'fin'. All new horizontal stern planes customized from the kit ones. A few more sonar domes. Re-scribed details, new torpedo tube shutters. A completely new pump jet shroud made by Keith Bender which fits this Sheerline kit perfectly. Completely different internal arrangements with two 4" Oudmayer WTC's, a different servo arrangement with the servos mounted in the free flood section. This affords greater flexibility with shorter control rods unhindered by confining water tight seals that might limit throw leverage on the control surfaces. Servo water proof electrical connectors by 'Daniel Woodhead Co.'. Has been a long pleasant journey, but one 'in the water' soon. Perhaps by the Queen's Birthday.

2. A new submarine project has been underway in the last year in my shop that will incorporate German model submarine design methods. German modeling methods in many cases offers both many superior and simpler methods. She will be a single hull model submarine as I very graciously learn to cook via the internet (AutoCad and UPS shipments) from one of the 'Great Chefs' in this 'German style' of 'cooking'.

3. Building a conning tower in 1/32 scale for a future and final project, an American World War One vintage submarine USS AL-10. Based on the McCandliss drawings from Taubmans plan service enlarged to 1/32 scale. I contacted the National Archives, but discovered the National Archive drawings of the L-class (design EB-37H) where used in the McCandliss drawings so save your money! This model would be 61 inches long. My first and likely only 1/32 scale model. Wooden pattern masters of conning tower being fabricated to be cast in resin from rubber molds. It will have a brass soldered chariot bridge. Two small very efficient Maxon motors with props already bench tested. This is a back burner project at present as the first two jobs have my attention. I wish I could post pictures here taken with my new digital camera, but I do not have a web site to link any URL's too. Sorry. When I get bogged down with one project, I build parts for the other to keep my efforts fresh.

I am assisting in a side research project in which I have been privileged to work with Matt Thor on a future 1/96 scale kit. Based on the research collected so far, this future kit by Matt Thor will be without doubt most assuredly be of the same quality and highest accuracy expected from his fine line of model submarine kits. Hold on to your bussles ladies!

Said too much already. The tulips are beginning to bloom in the yard. Back to the darn shop!

Regards,

Steve Reichmuth

Hi Thom,

For the time being, photos that are to be displayed as part of a forum posting need to be linked to your posting. The image itself will need to be hosted on a server on the Internet.

The format of the link would be]http://servername.domain/filename.ext

We are being cautious about allowing the images to be directly uploaded to the Sc web site, since this can quickly lead us to being over quota.

I'm currently waiting for a SWM 877 Kilo, so no pictures. And I'm in the process of converting a RMSS Type XXI with a SWM 3.5" WTC (much better than plex plates/gaskets/silicon/and lots of nuts.) Have to do some re-casting of dive planes, rudder, and center support for rear planes. Also have to correct the upper hull spread (Thanks again Jeff). Might not be completed for this year but watch out next spring.

Referring to my earlier posting.

Here are two images of the conning tower tooling to be cast in resin and brass of a future 1/32 scale USS AL-10. Thank you to my friend Jack Kocher for placing my url jpg. images in his SC Mare Island page. The tooling is pine with brass and aluminum periscope sheers. A gold soldered brass rod slips down to stiffen the periscope sheers.

The rectangular box between the masts is this design's original conning tower which will have 8 tiny transparent viewing ports. The masts aft to front are, a telescoping radio mast fashioned from a much modified 'off the shelf' cordless telephone antenna from 'Radio shack'. These cordless antennas upon dissection are actually silver plated brass, so they should take the water. A brass lanyard is attached to it's top complete with holes for the vintage 1917 short wave radio antenna wires. Forward is the main air induction for the notoriously cranky Nelseco diesels, then the main housing periscope, the hatch, bridge, then the forward housing periscope sheer. Rubber molds of these parts will be fabricated for resin castings to reduce as much top weight. A soldered brass chariot bridge will be placed atop the conning tower encompassing much of this. Model which when finished I hope will be 61 inches long.

A far cry from a Fleet Boat, the periscopes tended to fog up (not like the coveted German ones), no air conditoning, no separate officer and crew quarters, one 'comode' in full view at the very stern in engineering spaces for the whole crew, no showers, and no Royal Hawaiian hotel.
