2003 Builder's Survey "On the Ways" - What's everyone got on the bench?

    Here we go -
What's everyone working on? If you are able, please upload a photo.

First sea trials complete of my $100 PVC ROV / UW camera combo underwent successful pool tests, now just waiting for the muck to clear out of the local pond! .

Inside - I am tinkering with my HL Hunley internals - trying to get a battery, motor, gearbox combo that won't run down in 15 minutes.

Installing a WTC in my 32P XXIII Hull.
NEXT - New paint job and hull markings for my Thor Alfa. Installing new scopes and antennae from Jerome Simon.

Collecting parts to start on my 1/48 scale Gato hull.

Also have a sinkable freighter in the planning stages. I have the SSY hull and some photos but that's it so far

    Hi Tim,

I'm in the middle of a 1/96 ThorDesign Permit kit which will wind up being USS Thresher. It's a wonderful piece of work and a blast to put together. I put these up on the SubRon5 forum but here are two progress pics from this past weekend]http://www.warfish.com/images/permit_bside.jpg[/img]

The kit is wonderfully detailed and quite complete - down to the supplied control jumpers. I hope to have the boat finished by April, the 40th anniversary of Thresher's loss.

I'm also in the middle of re-configuring the electronics layout in my WTC-3. I'll use it in both my 1/96 688i and Thresher.
    Warm regards,

    Paul Crozier

        Thanks, Jeff!

Yes, Matt does supply the etched MBT vents with the kit. I just haven't put them on the hull yet. I'll probably do that late in the game so I don't mess them up.

            Jeffrey,

The kit comes with the MBT vents already countersunk for the customer. There is really very little building work on this kit. Almost all of the work is done in the mold to make this really an assembly process. This has been an extremely popular kit. I am just waiting to see who is the first to hit the water. Dr. David or Casey Thrower will probably be the first in the water. Hey, Guys I need some finished pics for my website!!!]

You know, the seats are already countersunk in the hull. Matt took care of that on the masters. Assembly is just a matter of drilling the vent hole, cleaning the area to fit and applying the etched MBTs. Extremely slick!

After I drilled the 2 large holes on each side of the Permit, I put in some brass tubes flush with the hull to give the holes depth. I would like to get some of Jeff's strainers for them. My wtc is complete but I'm having a fit with the linkage. I got more linkage at the hobby shop and will try one more idea. I have Matts drawing in front of me, but the linkage won't work for me. Arrrgg!

My Nautilus master awaiting a new mold (to be done this weekend). I've decided to go ahead and re-mold her, as I'm very dissatisfied with the first castings. They are hard to lay up due to the manner in which I split the hull, and they're full of air bubbles and small distortions. Nothing time and energy won't fix, but I want her to look perfect!
