2026 Carmel R/C SubRegatta Wrap Up:

This year the 2026 Carmel R/C SubRegatta was held again
at the beautiful Veterans Memorial Reflecting Pond. Another
great turn out of over 25 R/C Submariner Captains present
with over 40 R/C Subs on display with many R/C Subs
patrolling the pond over the 2 day SubRegatta event.

The weather was hot and a bit humid but a breeze both
            days kept things tolerable.

Our great hosts the IndyAdmirals, made sure we had tents
down by the pond to keep the R/C Sub Captains out of the
sun, as well as provide us the Sub launcher and the other
great Amenities the Veterans Memorial Reflecting Pond had to offer.
The Pond water was a little low in water level, but plenty of water
to have many Subs Patrolling the pond both days!

Saturday Morning was very busy as All the R/C Submariner
Captains were busy setting up their tables, receiving their
SubRegatta goodie bags and SubRegatta T shirts.
This year, for some unknown reason, the Pond Fountains
were not shut off and Rest rooms were not opened.
Chris Campbell came to everyone’s rescue and found the
park officials to shut off the fountains and open the rest rooms.

After the Captain’s meeting, morning SubRegatta Sub Runs
commenced. As usual, most of the Submariner Captains
caught up with each other and discussed their new, old,
            or future R/C Submarines.

Trading at the Swap table became brisk as Dave Hampton
arrived with a bunch of goodies.

Again THANK YOU to Loyalhanna Dockyard (Don Spielberger)
and Bob and Helen Gesking who graciously arranged for the
PIZZA to be delivered for Saturday’s LUNCH under the tent!

After Lunch, a SubRegatta Group Picture was taken, and more
SubRegatta Sub Runs commenced. Captain Choice Ballots
were counted and the Awards were presented.

Then came the much anticipated Raffle drawing with Chris
            Campbell drawing the lucky numbers.

Sunday morning started out quiet, the Godzilla beast that
was lurking in the pond last year was still in hiding!
Could it have been the 1/96 Oscar II warning missiles that
were launched early Saturday morning that scared the
            beast into hiding?

Or the Sunday R/C Submarine pond patrols.
To name a few, 1/96 Oscar II, SSBN-629 Daniel Boone,
Verne Nautilus, SSN-588 SkipJack, Flying Sub FS1,
U212, Neptune, V-80, USS Blueback, SSN 786 USS Illinois,
1/100 LADA, 1/72 Type 9, USS Barb SS 596, Quest Stealth Sub,
and many others keeping the waters safe!

After another beautiful day of running subs, Chris Campbell
again graciously read the lucky numbers for all the
great goodies on the raffle table.
A Good time was had by all.

Again a big THANK YOU goes out to the Indy Admirals who
            hosted this event
A special Thank You to Gene Weisner and Dave Hampton who
helped arrange for the use of the pond, the tents providing
shade for the Sub Captains, the Sub Launcher, and extra trash cans.

THANK YOU goes out to Chris Campbell for setting up our
Hotel arrangements, gathered any raffle donations, helping
with the town permit, and graciously drawing the the
            winning tickets for the raffle.

THANK YOU to Don Spielberger (CO-Chairman) and
Loyalhanna Dockyard, and all who helped with the behind
the scenes efforts. Registrations, T-Shirt design, T-Shirt ordering,
Tent electrical setup and tear down, goodie bags, registration badges,
frequency control, pizza ordering, reserving the tent, table and
chairs, and Bruce, Kevin and Jim who arrived early at the
pond on Friday and made sure the tent company set up the
big tent and tables, and anyone else we might of forgotten.

THANK YOU to This year’s EVENT Sponsors:

            KMc Design Electronics
            Loyalhanna DockYard
            SubTech LLC
            THE SUBCOMMITTEE

THANK YOU to the Raffle Venders:

            Loyalhanna Dockyard
            RTL Fasteners
            Wisconsin Maritime Museum

And finally, BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who bought
raffle tickets, donated to the Raffle and the EVENT Sponsors.
Without YOU we would not have been able to Pay for the
Tent table and chairs and have this great event.
This year we were within $110 of covering the
cost of the Tent, Tables and Chairs this year.
            So all is well.

Again THANKS to ALL for making this a Fun and
            Successful SubRegatta.

            THANK YOU!
