      Don and Bob,
Sorry to hear you cannot make it this year. Both of you will be missed.
We plan on having some tech seminars at the hotel, and was hoping
you could participate. Hope to see you next year at the event.

I will be posting the hotel reservation information in the very near future.
Don - so large that it affects the hotels, or is it the venue as well? just curious.

I was even starting to work up a couple of interesting tech seminars as well.

I have a problem if Don S doesn't go. We will not have a cookie taste tester or a Chex mix quality control officer.
On the plus side Laura won't need to make as much

I'm sure we can round up some replacement cookie testers!

As for the volumes needed, that really won't change at all - you just don't need to take all of it so far, drop off half at D3's house!

The Indiana State Fair is August 3-19, 2018. We've been having Sub events at Carmel since July 2004. Since 2005, the Sub Run has been held more or less at the same time as the State Fair. The fair grounds are about 12 miles south of the Carmel pond. I don't think the Fair has been that big of a problem for us. I think moving from Aug 4-5 to Aug 11-12 may make hotel rooms harder to find with the State Fair at it's height.

The Gen Con game convention is August 2-5, 2018. Gen Con has been held in Indy since 2003 and is contracted to stay in Indy through 2021. The venue is about 17miles south of the Carmel pond. Again, I don't think this event has had much impact on our Sub event.

Why wouldn't just early booking of your hotel rooms for the original weekend be the answer for this?

Getting the block of rooms arranged with the hotel saves us a lot on the price, booking on our own would mean paying full price. I did check their website, and they have rooms available at the full rate.

Chris Campbell has informed us that the Hilton has our information, but
we are waiting for them to setup the website link so we can log in and
register. As soon as we have the link and verify it is operational, we will post it
                          on this thread.

OK, so no one answered my inquiry directly about room availability for the original planned weekend for this event.

My understanding is that there would be rooms available, albeit at a slightly higher cost. What I am hearing through the ether is that we are going to be missing several important vendors by moving this event.

I can't see how that would be a good thing, and I'm sure it would have to hurt things like raffle sales, and even having the availability of those experts around to help people with their boats and technology.

In case you all haven't figured this out, I'm BIG on vendors. Very big. My background with the SubCommittee had me talking with various vendors frequently, and I firmly believe for the average builder and model owner, they are the only reason why I can take components that are purpose built for this specifc branch of the hobby, and get a running/working model into the water. Mind you, this is "my" viewpoint, and I'm more than happy to hear all sides of the conversation.

So, let me please ask again. Is there any possible way the original date could be still be honored, or could we even schedule the weekend before, so that a full compliment of attendees can attend? It's only February...
                              Thanks for your consideration.

I must admit...since the SubCommittee has a financial stake in the success of this event, having a conversation with the EC as a courtesy before making the date change would have been nice.
