    Help wanted

I am new to RC submarines and have assembled the skipjack Moebius sub with the RC foundations. I just got the SD driver assembled and tested but could use help in setting the model up. I live in Toronto and am looking for help and am willing to pay an hourly fee for that help please advise and respond to my email drmarkhcohen@gmail.com thank you Mark

    Mark,
What do you need help in setting up? Before you pay someone maybe we can help.
    Peace,
    Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Hi Tom basically it's the connection of the snort which is affixed to the upper hull to what do I attach the tubing I have the schematics from the Webb but they differ if you could answer that I would be most appreciative. This Mark

The snort system is a air pump that draws air from high in the sail.
Usually one of the masts is just a piece of brass tube with the rubber hose attached at the bottom.
The other end goes tothe cylyinder cap and goes through the cap with some sort of fitting.
Once through the cap the tubing continues tot he air pump.
The air pump will have two in and out fittings.
The other side of the pump will have the rubber tubing going to the ballast tank in which air is pumped in to the tank expelling the water out the bottom of the tank.

Can you lay your sub equipment out on a table and take a photo.
Post the photo would help us to identify what parts are for what purpose.

The SD expels air from the top.
This is a SNORT system not a SAS?
A SAS (takes air out of the cylinder and replenishes that air once surfaced). The newer SD uses SAS. However for the purposes of this discussion I will show both.

At the back of the SD you should see two tubes coming out, one is intake and one is output. Which one? I did not know so I attached the pump to the battery and felt the ends (then mark your end cap so you can remember, I used In/Out).

In the kit is a blue rectangle like this (this is my Gato which uses SAS):

There is a lot in the picture (I added aluminum tubes instead of long hoses), but I am looking specifically at the blueish/green rectangle with two connectors on one side and one on the top. Am I making sense so far? If not email me or post here. The top side with the one tube coming out, that goes to a high place in your sail. That high place will need to be out of the water to bring air in. So, getting an aluminum tube and putting that in for a periscope extended would put that air intake nice and high or hide it near the top of the sail (it is your creativity here). On the side of the rectangle were there are two tubes, one is the pass through to the tube going up. This is were you would attach the hose from the intake tube (marked IN) on the end cap. The other tube (not the pass through) on the rectangle has a 90 degree bend pointing down to your ballast tank. This tube is were you connect the hose from the output (Marked Out) of the end cap tube.

          Here is the Skipjack's manifold:

It looks close to the Gato one, except you hook the pass through hose (single tube end on side) to a manifold over the battery. This manifold puts the air into the cylinder replenishing the air taken out while submerged.

Did this help or did I miss the area you were concerned about?
          Peace,
          tom
