    PE-56 and U-583

I just watched a very interesting documentary on Smithsonian channel about the sinking of the US's PE-"Eagle"-56. The Navy's cause of sinking was listed as a boiler explosion. But the show presented some strong evidence that the U-583 was in the area, off the coat of Maine, on May 2, 1945, and perhaps had gone rogue after the call to U-Boats to cease all hostilities.

If it comes back around, it's a good watch.

I've been watching that show too, its a multipart series, not sure how many episodes total. Very interesting, worth the watch.

Thanks, didn't know that. It's called "The Hunt fo Eagle 56" according to my guide. Sundays at 9pm apparently. Setting my DVR I really hope they expand upon the rogue submarine idea.
