The 505 looks like a nice kit. Be neat to see how she compare to the Gato.

It would be nice to see a Kilo in this scale. Thinks Revell is interested? Let them know if you think it would be a good idea.

The model is infested with errors. The rivets do not exist on the real boat. Not worth the effort to correct them all, in my opinion . I am extremely disappointed in the model.

Thinking of getting one, what other areas need changing?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Well you have to cut them some slack; it's not as if they had a real Type IX they could examine in detail and model it after.......oh, wait!

Seriously, it is a huge disappointment when in those rare instances for WWII submarines that an actual 1:1 scale version is available to take measurements and the model comes out wrong anyway. Doubly egregious to my mind in 1/72 scale, where you can put a lot of details on the kit.

              I agree, Tom!

There are numerous ares that are not quite correct. The ghg is out of scale, the skeg is not on scale profile. The entry of the bow is off a tad. The deck is too narrow in places. ....The list goes on....

They could have had their modeler become a docent at the Chicago Museum and copy the 505 in detail. There is no reason for not doing this. I'm sure the museum could have accommodated this and could have helped in many ways. The models could have been sold at the museum store, too.

Given all the errors, I am still going to build one.
