    Gerry Anderson Sky Diver

We are starting a new contract build this week of the Gerry Anderson design from the old UFO series. This will be a functional diving radio controlled submarine. Sorry the jet it's self won't fly! LOL!
We are excited to do this unusual subject matter from one of the greatest designers of all time. For those of you that don't know what the heck I'm talking about(imagine that) here's a picture of the beast. Video on Monday.

I know. When are you go to run the R class? We had planned this week but the weather in LA is going to be in the 100s last we checked. So we are hoping for a cooler day the week after this one. We live an hour outside LA in Ventura and it's always cool here in the 70's at best by the sea. But there are no lakes to run boats and I have yet found a pool that will allow the boats to run. Best shot is the Hansen damn. So we wait.

    Looks very VERY interesting Steve!

Do you have any ideas about the propulsion, yet?

There will be kind of a pump jet of internal impeller that is connected to a Y that exits both rear jets. Works great on the Seaview. A Big Dave trick.

Is it one of Mamas's kits?

After another look it might be Andy. I've seen the pictures of his raw kits and it looks most similar.

Steve I will send you a link to some great pumps that should work for the drive.
Rich Teskey uses them in his FS1 and Protious subs.
They are self contained bilge pumps and have good thrust.
                They are cheap too. BD.

You can see how Rick used them in the thread just down the page from this one on the Proteus build.

It begins. got the pump jets now to have BD build a cylinder for this boat and the cylinders for the PJ's. Got lots of holes to cut and details to put back. When i got the kit from Byron someone had sanded away most of the details. Rats.

                        Re: Gerry Anderson Sky Diver

Got lots started on the Skydiver today along side the Enterprise D I'm also building. Video is uploading but I'm trying to take more pictures as I go for the SCR articles.

BD the space inside this hull isn't much. A 3 inch cylinder about 12 inches log will fit or longer if it's a 21/2 inch WTC. Bladders will be external one would think on the sides and two cylinders to seal in the PJ motors against the water. Those would need to be 21/2 inches long by 11/2. Endcaps and a prop shaft seal of course.

Maximum deep on the main hull is about 3 1/2 inches.

                        She's sating to some together.

                        Video later tonight.

                        Steve

PJs will fit the engine housings, just.

As you can see it just makes it on the output jet.

Well BD. What ya think? Doable??
