If you can find a Hitec Spectra module on 75 you can just swap it out with the 72 plug in module in your radio.
But they have been discontinued and hard to find.
This will give you a synth radio.
DonO did this in his 9cap and 9 zap.
I have one in my Multiplex Profi too.
As does Jeff. BD.

Futaba also makes a FSS module on 75MHz that's the exact same size as the Spectra but with the added bonus that the "channel change" dials are on the back face of the module instead of the side. With a Spectra you have to extract the module every time you want to change the channel, with the Futaba module you just have to turn the transmitter off as the dials are right there. (For some reason the folks at Futaba claim their module will only work in the 3PK radio, but I've been using them in my 9Z and W-FLY 8 for a long time now without a glitch.)

That is excellent information! Thanks, Kevin. I am learning a lot about the upper end radios from you gentlemen! I will be working on getting Mike Dory's 1/32nd Type IXB (U-107) into the water for the various Regatta's next summer. Lots of work to do! That boat utilizes more channels than I am used to, so I will be putting one of my Futaba T9CAP radios to work to guide her around the pond.

Clarify this for me, Kevin. Are you saying that the WFLY-8 uses the same type of RF module plug-in that my Futaba 9CAP uses? If so, I did not realize that. In other words, I can take the RF module out of my 9CAP and plug it into a WFLY-8 and all is sweetness?

Tony at Radio South converted my Graupner MC-19/40MHz radio to both 2.4GHz & 75MHz with a locking 3-position toggle switch to use both frequencies. Can use land, sea and air.
I'm now trying to perfect a flying submarine! :^)

The ubiquitous "yellow flying sub" already exists, but mine only "flies" under water. The old airships with the gondola underneath looked like subs, and flew reliably, but you would have a tough time getting an intact one under water. Good luck!

Correct - I've been using "Futaba compatible" modules in my W-FLY 8 channel Tx for several seasons now. First a Spectra, then I switched to the Futaba FSS (because of the aforementioned ability to change channels without pulling the module) but any Futaba-type module will fit. While it's definitely a lesser known brand, it's a sweet radio none-the-less.

I was just joking about that. I have read about the Russian's attempts and it just can't be accomplished but it seems that the extraterrestrials have been successful.

And this is actually quite old technology.
But they were all built very well and the best of there day.
We aren't even scratching the surface of what the radios like the 9Z and Multiplex Profi can do.
But it's nice to know if we ever figure them out they will do it.

The 9Cap Matt just got is an excellent radio.
Good choice.
