    Geared water pumps

Does anyone have any information on submersible geared water pumps that can be used to pump water into and out of a ballast chamber?

    Thanks.

There are a few on the market. They vary in price, quality and size. What boat is it for?

This is for a basic Akula type hull that is approx. 80" long with an 8.5" beam. It will take 4lbs. - 6lbs. of water as ballast. The boat is really a test bed for electric motor torpedoes and some other electronic and mechanical ideas.
      Thanks again.

        Okay- big boat.

Geared pumps don't have a terribly high flow rate in relation to their size. A good pump is made by a company called Kavan. This pumps about 1.8 litres a minute, and can make about 40psi.

You would probably want two of these running in parallel for a boat your size.

          Hi

Try a simple valve instead of using a geared pump. [http://youtu.be/AQ8UrO42Mkg]
