    Deboer 57 inch Seaview

Guys the complete thread is over at SP and the first article in my new SCR column will be about this build. But for a tease here's some pictures of the boat complete with an OTW custom 3.5 module.

This build took 11 days to this point. The kit was a bit trying but turns out nice. Many of the parts like the dive planes had to be scratch built. She gets water tested this week when the new lead acid batt shows up.

    This is a customer build.

Damn, I just love this build.
    I really must get one.
I keep thinking I should go for the larger Deboer, the 80" one.
However, I will get a large Deboer, one or the other, it's just a matter of time.

    Your the man Steve

I hope the client post some video too when he gets it wet for the first time.
Imagine getting this baby in the mail?
    Oh HAPPY DAY.

Nice job! The dark grey stripes that are subtly sprayed on is a nice touch. Is it showing a stressed hull after a real deep dive chasing a ghost german U-BOAT revealing the locations of internal bulkheads? Inquiring minds need to know.

        Well thanks you guys.

No Greenman just an attempt to breath a bit of weathering, life, and motion into her hull. I did this same thing on mine and liked it a lot.

        Thanks again guys.

          Hi Steve

I want to thankyou for helping me decide to go big and get a real dream sub.
Your build thread at Subpirates was the inspiration. The way you breathed life into that model was a charm.
I personally love the airbrushing technique of the lines, makes it come alive!
          Your dear friend and student
          Dean Ward

PS Steve has informed me a Big Dave 3" cylinder will work fine in this build.
I am working on funds and soon I too will be on the sea patrolling with a large Seaview.

So is this chapter closed? I was hoping to see how the OTW wtc preformed on this 57 inch Seaview! Was the Seaview lost at sea?

Nope. I just got the OTW Cylinder back and it's installed and going in the pool today. It has to be finished this is a customer build not for me.

              Steve

P.S. the full story and all the pictures of it lite up and on it's custom stand are at SubPirates.

Can you get a picture of you wearing your hat cam?
I was gonna ask if it was attached to your head and there it
                  was in the credits.
Skimmed your build post at Subpirate today.
                  Great job on the sub.

Scott I sure don't. It's just a head light and I attached a gum pack camera to it that's all.

                    Glad you liked the build!

                    Thanks Scott.

This boat is finished. Ran it one more time in my little pool. Hard to do much with it it needs more room to move but it's later in the day, lights are on and a little under water video too.

                      Enjoy,

                      Steve

Tom. Every time this boat gets bigger it compounds it's problems. Mainly nose plowing. You either balance it tail heavy and I mean tail heavy or you add all kinds of none scale stuff like bigger dive planes, cutting the outside fins to act as additional surface area for the elevator control this model lacks, and not to mention getting her to sit upright and not keel over. Yep at 80 inches you going to have all kinds of fun.

                              Steve,

What a wonderful build. Kudos and congrats! I've got a Teskey version in pieces in my garage that I can see I'm going to have to consult with you in detail about if I can ever get my Disney Nautilus project completed first.

BTW, just read your 32nd Parallel Type VII build article in the new June SCR over lunch at work today. Great stuff! Congrats on that too.

                              Best,
                              Jeff Porteous
