Yep by all mean get in touch with Antics (a company who seem to be living up to their name!) and negotiate, they should offer you some compensation, bearing in mind they will otherwise have a lost sale and have to pay the postage for the boat to be sent back to them.

If you get a satisfactory resolution, then I would re-kit the boat, make sure I have a printed copy of the building manual handy, and build it up as a kit. There aren't gazzillions of parts in the Neptune, and it's a logical construction, so you should soon get a feel for what goes where and why, and what is missing.

    It's your decision.

BTW, it looks like Westborne Models have them- tried them?

I have all the manuals that came with the boat, including full assembly instructions, parts lists, amendment sheets, amendment to the amendment sheets, the tool kit...etc.

I have a man on our forum who is going to machine me up a set of weights to the specifications of the original kit ones from s/steel rod, plus a s/steel support bar and s/steel nuts.

So the outcome depends on what Antics Online have to say tomorrow...the future is looking rosier that it was a few hours ago.

      Watch this space...

The outcome was very interesting...first thing yesterday morning I had a phone call from a very apologetic and highly embarrassed shop manager...apparently the boat I received was a customer build that went wrong and had been returned, it should never have been sent out again. I was told to get it ready for collection, which I did, and later that morning a courier van arrived to collect it.

To cut a long story short, the manager offered me a brand new RTG boat with radio all fitted and tested by the manager himself personally before it comes out to me by overnight courier, plus as a goodwill gesture and by way of a personal apology, he also offered a large cash refund, which I gratefully accepted!

This morning I received an email from the manager telling me that my new boat had been checked over and was ready to go, packed and awaiting collection by the courier company..a couple of hours later I received another email informing that the boat had been collected, giving me a tracking number, and telling me that the boat would be delivered by 0900hrs tomorrow morning.

Now tell me that's not good service!!!

Now that the Neptune is up and running I thought I'd start personalising it...adding flood lamps and an onboard video camera. I couldn't afford the Thunder Tiger one, but I bought one of these key fob cameras from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_3121wt_1282

It's a tiny little thing, and it seems to work pretty good...I installed a 2Gb memory card in mine.

I've now built a watertight housing to put it in, it just clips on and off the deck of the Neptune. It's made from a 2" length of plastic pipe, the lens and cap from an old torch and the top off of an aerosol can. It might not look pretty...but it works.

The pic below shows the camera fitted to the Neptune on the custom designed quick release mount...a strip of styrene sheet and two cable ties.

You will get better quality video from that little keyfob camera than the Thundertiger cam.

If you streamlined the back of the enclosure with a cone (bit of polystyrene foam wil suffice), it will cut the drag significantly.

Does drag exist at the speed the Neptune potters along?

Yes it does, and the Neptune doesn't need any help in the 'going slow' department.
