    What do you want

Is there anything you want to see like a new kit, a new innovation, electronic or mechanical gizmo for RC subs? Who knows somebody might come up and build or make it.

There is absolutely no difference between hooking up an x-tail and a cruciform tail.

It would be so nice to have the room inside the hull to get at the things Andy...I've done two of them so far, two to go.

          Ah, so what you are

Ah, so what you are really saying is that the boats a bit on the titchy side.

Could be worse, you could be working on a 1/96th Alfa. Now things get really tight there!

                A mechanical "Deadman" Timer

A waterproof windup mechanical timer that could be set for up to 3-4 hours and then would activate a lever or rotate an arm to release a buoy to identify the location of a sunk sub.

                  Collision Avoidance Sonar

OK. Here mine. How about a collision avoidance sonar that you either hook up to the rudder servo to turn the sub or ESC to stop the motor to avoid running into an underwater obstacle?

Could you not modify the clockwork mechanism from one of those wind up radios? Maybe play around with one of them, see what you can make of it?

I'd probably set it for only an hour. Can't bear to wait that long only to find out later that the bouy failed to deploy or got entangled and you have to wade in.

How about a self contained micro controller, which can easily be configured as a timer- this mostly what they do. After the set time it could activate a micro servo to realease a buoy.

You would only need a single li-po cell to power this, and it would be very cheap to make.

There are RTR kits and build available on the net ,Velman makes a good one they are prgramable and cheap.

My gizmo is the onboard vedeo telemetry .

link ,voltage ,speed, rpm, compass ,perhaps depth, color video motor temp, water leak alarm, home arrow.
Teathered for ROV live video use wirreless for download scale use.

I already have the incredible Markum 360 ,onscreen depth, compass the camarra is pointed plus ,it will be incorperated into a sub rescue unit ROV.
                          With a video gogles.

                          Its comming stay tuned!

                              Morning Rick,

There's a chap in the UK by the name of Trevor Baylis who designed a wind up clockwork radio for the third world countries, it's a very simple idea...I'll try and find a link to it.

                              Here's one... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockwork_radio
                              Another... http://www.design-technology.org/Baylis.htm
                              Another... http://www.freeplayfoundation.org/li...FQsh3godlRZenA

Hope that helps Rick, it will give you a start point to search from.
