    Submarine Works 1/96 Ohio

Well the UPS man smiled upon me today and delivered my Ohio from Pete. Did I say Ohio? I meant USS Rhode Island! Yeah baby. I am now filing for a divorce so that I can legally marry this boat! I love it. If you want a super accurate 1/96 Ohio boat this is the way to go and I think I know what I'm talking about. The shipping was double thick cardboard, a butt ton of peanuts and bubble wrap. Needless to say it arrived unharmed.

This thing is big. If size matters then this is a good choice. I can fit several wtc's inside this thing . Cavernous rings a bell.

Well here are some pics enough words.

          The trick is to tell

The trick is to tell her a year in advance that you are getting it because you love the real boat soooooo much. After she has eaten that steaming pile and the time comes to buy iut she just fold immediately.

Rough cut the aft ballast vents and started cleaning up the forward one.
Also I cut off the tail and am waiting to get some fiberglass to affix it.

                    Off with his head!!!!

                    I decided

                    Off with his head!!!!

I decided not to do a Z cut on this boat because it was my opinion that it would have been a pain in the rear to put a boat this long together that way.

Re attached the tail cone and have begun fitting the dive planes

Ok the head is back on

                        Pete you need to make

Pete you need to make this thing a bit more difficult to assemble. At this rate I am going to be done in a week or 2.

Finished the rest of the hardware to attach the hulls together today, including a moving hatch to hide the screws. Took all day to do because epoxy takes to darn long to cure to the point where i am happy with it.

I have also started working on a micro processor program to control 2 missile doors and 2 missiles.

At the risk of sounding like my girlfriend..."man, that thing is BIG"!!!

Nice work, it's beginning to look good, I like the idea of the movable hatch to hide the screws. Clever thinking...
