Flex drive on a sub

Has anyone tried using a flex drive instead of a straight shaft on their sub's drivetrain?

I saw some picture somewhere of someone who modified his SWM Blueback to use a "flex drive" coupling instead of universals or dogbones.

because of using 1/4" prop

because of using 1/4" prop shafts and 5/16" motor shafts on my typhoon and of still having some flexshafts, i made my own flex coupler with some octura adapters. works great and runs very smooth. the whole coupler assemply is about 4 inches long

Any problems with the flexshafts

Any problems with the flexshafts rusting? Do you either use a different material such as stainless/brass or just careful maintenance? I am just asking because most of he flex shafts that I have seen are a regular steel.

im just using regular steel

im just using regular steel flex-shafts.
i do use a silicone based grease, that is sea-water- resistant .thin coat on the flex shaft worked so far for me
