First Alfa run of the compressor based 5 ft Alfa

Today was the first Alfa run of this large impressive sub.
First I ran her in several serface manuevers to get a feel of her capabilities and found her to be even more capable and nimble than I ever dreamned she would be. She is my 6th sub and the 4th to have an on board compressor. And extreamly tight turning.
Mostly due to the modified rudder that was very simple and easy to modify ,and looks just like the real one.
She runs like a steady laidden oil tanker ,no rolls in hard left or right at high speed, and speed wow she can move! The wake is huge 4 inches at least on both sides.I need a small serfer!
Man get ramned by this monster and it would hurt.
Then I turned on the compressor for about 8 secounds and opened the dive valve and slowly she dove to just about the top of the sail, but not enough to dive completly , I gues the water is lighter in this pond than my tank,so a bit more lead in the right spot should do it.
The hydraulic masts are not completed yet but soon will be.

The on board compressor system worked flalessly and she did not have to come in to port till she ran low on power 2 hours later of solid running at a good clip, faster than I walk thats for sure and thats only 1/4 gas,at full she is a torpedo!

The scale like apearance and running have made this sub a joy to use and she is a real crowd pleaser.

She will be a fully armned combat sub with exploding rocket torpedoes that have a range of opriximatly 15 ft,and are a blast to see at nigt!

    The above pic is of

The above pic is of the rear WTC before the wirring was done.

The next is the forward WTC with extra room and wires for more goddies the pumps below the deck are for the retracting planes and masts and clam shell doors atop the sail.

Naturly the WTC is open in this pic ,also made of stainless steel, note the Amphenol plugs ,I sell those also ,a very profetional hull pass throgh for electrical wiring ,MIL spec and works great even as a main switch.

The main drive a water cooled Makita 12 volt all bearing motor and planetary gear drive.Built in clutch and thrust bearings.Cost 100.00 bucks well worth it to turn that huge 5 bladed very high pitched prop.
More options have been addad to the mai uper engeneering deck and will be posted later with an over all internal picture.

Well thanks for the gander and hope to see you at the pond, war games any one?

From the Amur ship yard thanks Dave

      Wow, i have no idea

Wow, i have no idea what those 3 small elec motors do but it looks complicated. I really like it! Can you put a pepsi can or something else near the sub so i can see how large the Alfa is?

        Here are some more pics,she

Here are some more pics, she is 66 inches long by 8.5 beam. From keel to top of sail 10 inches ,the mast extends another 7.5 inches, and is the tallest. The syringes in the tail are the counter hydraulics for the masts and planes, note the anyfreez. The balance of the sub is not affected by there movement ,your just moving water on the out side.Could also be used as a mini trim tank or tanks they can take alot of pressure.

Note the external drive for the water cooling pump from the main shaft.

Also the charging cable and plug all one conection and water tight though not necessary ,just keep dust out of the plug.
The hydraulics are almost finished and the off on switch is the amphenol plug on the rear WTC. The front plug is also used for charging all the bateries.
This sub has remote power reset that way the speedcontroller can be reset if it goes off line,a pian if you cant restet it from the shore ,the sub is out there, just a back up system.

Later the weapons will be added and the control system that is indipendant from the radio.
The radio is a 10 chanel PCM computer radio that will blow your socks off from JR.She waighs in at 44 lbs ya ! Make way for this baby at cruising speed!
Let me know if you have any questions about this sub.

Thanks Dave from the Amur ship yard, time to go back on alfa trials this afternoon.

This is the pic I modeled my Alfa ,it has alot more interesting markings and from other pics as well and then I combined them and used Scale Ships markings though the water marks are not to scale they do look great with just more graduations than the real sub has.I wish there was more pics some place but for now there she is. Then sealed in a special flat clear paint.
If anyone is interested in comitioning this sub from me I can make a copy at a reasonable price considering the extensive amount of work that went into her from the past 6 or so months.

WoW, that's an impressive sub! Size, Complexity, it's amazing.

..Looks like you are ready to go kill Ramius.

              Thank you ,she is impressive

Thank you ,she is impressive and runs as well as she looks, even on rough water she is steady as a battleship yet nimble as a yaht. For a single srew sub she turns sharper than a 1/96 scale Akula and very responsive without rools or being over sensative at cruising or flank speed.

The fire control system will have 2 safeties to arm then fire the weapons and is a seperate system from the radio,on an intirely different frequency and It should be able to fire 4 weapons independantly.
I hope to go after not just Ramius but other enimies of mother Russia.
It looks a bit complex but not realy once you open her up and see what does what.

Some pics of the components of the dive system.
And the Akula II Vepr 1/96 scale I built before the Alfa.

Once again david you have made a boat that baffles me completely. Im not sure where you plan on puttting in a weapon system considering how tight and well laiden she is. I also noticed that on your vepyr you are not using the includes propeller with the kit. Did you find it insufficient? Either way warren tells me were planning a trip to devils den in OCT and you have got to bring your Akula and Alfa out. I have got to see them. Also i believe you own a Typhoon?

                    Hello Kevin how are you?

The weapons will fit since there only are tubes neede for the rocket torpedoes, then the control system will be in the forward wtc ,I hope that part fits in.
The Akula uses the scale prop ,I just used the other one on the day of that photo shoot, but I had to increase the pitch on the scale one in order to use it,you will probably have to do the same,it makes a huge difrence!

That sounds great to put to sea and excercize the fleet, keep me informned as to the launch day.

                    Have a great day Kevin

Yes I have been using a test range pond here at my home for a long time and have sunk several small boats, though I dought the charge is strong enough to sink a sub.....yet.

Its all in good fun dont worry Im not going to go renegade, this is just a fun chalange!

I think I got the water markings prity close acording to this pic though hard to see but there closer together than in other pics ,so Ill stay with what I have done.
