That won't work. I don't think it will fit at all. The Gato is only 54 inches long so the beam is going to be too narrow.
But David Merriman and Dave Welch will most likely produce a WTC for this model. But seeing how they can't do that until this model is released it will be awhile.
My hobby shop laughs every time I ask about it's release. Who knows when.
[color=#000000]Now hold on a second(not trying to flame here). I don't know about the length of the WTC but the name tells me it's 3.5" in dia, mod 2 for twin props. The 1/72 scale gato should come in just under 52" in length and a 4.5" beam which I might add makes up a good portion of the center of the hull. Again not being sure of the length of the WTC why wouldn't it work? I do agree that a 3" would be better but the 3.5" should work also and he already has that one.

The Scale Shipyard 1/72 GATO model outfitted with our WTC-2.5/GATO. If I can trim out this heavy GRP hull to work with this unit then it will be a cake walk to trim out the much lighter in weight (and thinner walled), soon to appear, Revell kit scale.
The model was built and owned by Karl Poschner. I was hired to integrate the new WTC into his model and to get things operational. The original WTC-3 mod 2 just did not provide enough annular space within the hull to permit proper trimming of the heavy fiberglass hull.
The WTC-2.5/GATO has enough reserve buoyancy to get even the heavy Scale Shipyards hull height enough into the air to give it a scale like surface trim waterline.
Karl's 1/72 GATO opened up revealing the WTC-2.5/GATO. Above the model is the WTC-3 mod 2 initially installed. Gobs of room in there with the smaller cylinder!
The Revell kit will require only a small fraction of the displacing foam you see here installed to counter the weight of the lead needed to raise the metacentric height of the heavy Scale Shipyard hull.
Plenty of room within the WTC-2.5/GATO to mount servos and other gadgets -- you don't have to be a brain surgeon to outfit this moderately sized WTC (sorry, Adam).
I invented the WTC concept (as practiced in America) nearly two decades ago. The WTC-2.5/GATO is simply a development of my ongoing work to produce WTC's suited for specific model submarine kits.
The WTC-2.5/GATO uses a single Graupner 400 motor linked to a gear-splitter unit to provide the needed two counter-rotating shaft outputs. WTC installation/removal takes about thirty-seconds! Battery change takes about the same amount of time. Endurance with a 1800mAh battery is over an hour! The tank has more than enough floodable volume to get the model up to designed waterline.

I was just trying to say that if it were mine I would have tried it. I look at other peoples situation as if they were mine, I don't have much in the way of extra money to throw at my hobby and try to make what I have work. Some may think this to be a waste of time, me it's more like doing is learning. If I fail I know what doesn't work and keep going till I find what does. Thats not to say I don't ask for advise or follow others leads though. Anyway thats my two pennies worth.
That's how I do it too Don, but thankfully their are folk's out their that have gone the hard road, and share the tuff learned answers to the questions we all confront in this hobby!
I have done two plugs for the GATO in 1/72nd and can say with out a doubt, the D&E 2.5" will work wounders for the new Revell release!
A 3" will work, but the need for a drive spliter (one gear turned into two outputs) will be needed! I do not know if this is on the plan board of D&E, but the new 2.5" is, and a model in hand is needed for final completion of the new WTC.
