Sure we are. They lead the way and we follow. It's simple right?

            Absolutly Steve. Couldn't agree more.

            We

            Absolutly Steve. Couldn't agree more.

We are lucky that number of innovators in North America like Skip, Dave, Dave, Dave, Matt, Mike, Steve, Al, Greg, Jeff, Pete et al, came on the scene.

These Henry Fords - to the German Karl Benzes - have opened the RC sub hobby up for us engineering-impaired guys. They supply us with sub kits, off-the-shelf electronics, watertight cylinders, pre-made hulls, sub parts, plan sets, metal decks, etc., for we who still want to be sub drivers but don't have the knowledge, practice or skills - or at least need a little experience building a kit or two - before we tackle a scratch project.

Otherwise many of us (myself included) would be sitting empty-handed at pondside watching in awe and envy - wishing we were smart and talented like the Germans too!

there was no slight intended to any of those folks in my post. I owe them lots for helping me. maybe I should have included a smiley.

              whatever...

I met Lothar and saw his sub back in 97 (98?) at the regatta- I think that he brought either the Gotland or the Nacken... I can't remember. Either way I was impressed by the engineering.

                Sam, Tim @ all

                Thanks for

                Sam, Tim @ all

Thanks for these compliments. But over here is not a big difference to US. Most people over here are bulding kits. Only a small group (I am glad to be inside) is building over her from scratch and really innovating.

....and by the way, I grew up scratch building, because my Dad didn't have the money to buy kits of motorboats and sailing shpis. The "school in modelling" was hard, but may be today I earn the advantages of those "bad times" when I was a boy.

                Hey Sam,

it was Hälsingland in 1997. Gotland is better and faster running, more manouvrable and more reliable. Just the better boat.

At the moment I am not able to pay a trip to US. But may be, when I slow down my hobby a bit, I can save the money for the flight (This is half of the material for a submarine!) and visit all my friends over there again.

The pictures from Carmel are making appetite

                Regards

                Lothar

??? and are there more scratch builders??????
