Turning a Kilo into a Lada class - Is it possible to do a conversion?

    Hi everyone,
I just want to ask if it's possible to convert a Trumpeter Kilo into a Lada class.

    well, judging from the photo's,

well, judging from the photo's, the nose would need a whole lot of
putty, the sides as well, and i'm not sure the length is the same.

but, as long as the russian navy does not hand out 100% accurate models, go for it !

Being the first and being accurate is often not
compatible in our hobby, just choose one.

      This is something I considered

This is something I considered a year ago or so. The Trumpeter Kilo's hull being cilyndrical matches the shape of the Lada better than the one of a Kilo AFAIK the Lada has not a teardrop hull shape.

The bow in the Lada seems to have a more aespheric shape.
Another problem is the lenght/diamter of the hull, but you will be close enough if you are not as picky as I am!

This is a lineart of the Lada on the Trumpeter Kilo (from Trumpeter's instrucctions)

The fit is not perfect but you can figure out how to do it (or not do it!)

Thanks Gerwalk. From your photo overlays it shows that other than the Lada's much lower deck, and smaller sail compared to the Kilo, their hull outlines are generally the same. I could probably live with the deck height discrepancy. It would just be a matter of making the sail smaller, transferring the bow planes to the sail and fabricating a smaller upper and lower rudder.

            Actually the model's deck is

[color=#000000]Actually the model's deck is too high for a Kilo too! I lowered mine to better reproduce the deck of the real Kilo. I also tried to reshape the hull to resemble a teardrop one. The result of all this]
