Yes the latching relay works nicely. One reed switch for on one for off.

The latching relay Radio Spares part no is 346-722 price about £8.
I would not buy it form RS (Just look up description on their web site!) because they have a large minimum order value. Maplin don't stock them but perhaps Farnell are worth checking.
