...searching for a decent epoxy resin to use for joining hull parts, creating indexing strips, etc. Has anyone used Fiberglast's 60-minute hardener with their System 2000 epoxy resins? Is this adequately waterproof over time and strong enough for r/c use?
I have been told by some very good builders that the shorter the set up time, the less water proof your lay up will be. I use West Systems epoxy and have gotten great results.

I think I have said this a few times but here we go again
listen up students there will be a test
this should be your creed
" the longer the cure the stronger the bond!"
NEVER USE 5 MIN EPOXY IT WILL EMULSIFY IN WATER
IMHO
pc7 pc 11 marine grade epoxy is a two part paste and can be nuc'ed in the Mike to achieve a lower viscosity for easyer use.
if you are intent on using off the shelf epoxy use 45 minuet or 1slow cure, a new glue on the market is gorilla glue and it works great. one other glue is elmers probond polyurethane glue it has a 24 hour cure time and once it is mixxed you can not touch until fuly cured
lesson over
I was wondering if anyone had ever tried the Gorilla glue for boat and sub modeling. It is supposed to be totaly water proof. I will have to test it and see.

I tried a bottle of it and put it away - at least for my modeling purposes.
It IS very strong, but it keeps expanding for some time after application. It foams to several times its original volume and runs all over, making a yellow mess that is difficult to clean up. I found it not good for the small stuff I work on where neatness counts ten points.
Don't just take my word for it, do a Google search on "Review Gorilla Glue".
