I realized in the middle of the night that I had misplaced the after Wide Aperture Array sensor too far aft which drove the surfaces incorrectly for the aft fiberglass fairing. That has since been corrected and provides a much better result.

The last item for today is installing the towed array fairing.

...and one further correction to the aft Wide Aperture Array fairing. I was digging through my old paper files and found the final update on the fairing before fabrication.

        Matt

Matt, Sam just brought me up to speed on this project too. SO glad to see you back into subs, particularly on the supply side again. Hope all goes well, and keep it up! Bob's lucky to have you fabricating for him!

            All the best,
            Jeff

Bob is nothing less than a full-on dynamo. I get a static charge whenever communicating with him!

The new SSN21 kit will be a complete retool. The old kit from the 1997 was based upon the very nice Deep Sea Designs drawings. A lot of years have passed since then allowing the gathering of much more accurate and up to date information. The old kit builds into a very nice representation of the SEAWOLF, but it is not completely accurate, but it was the best we could do back in the day.
                    Regards,

                    Matt

There is a new Photo of SSN-21 showing some interesting details on the stern. The photo seems to show some new welds in this area too.
Wondr what these 8 little round holes are? Click image for larger version

All of that detail was on the old tooling.

Coming up, Jim! I need to get past the Blueback kit first so I can fulfill my obligations to Bob Martin for the purchase of all of the Small World Models kits. Part of that obligation is Sturgeon kits which will be knocked out very soon after Blueback. Then, finally, back to Seawolf.
                            Regards,

                            Matt
