    Threaded brass rod

    Folks,
When I received my 1/72 Skipjack fittings kit, there was a short piece of 1/16 brass rod with a smaller diameter threaded brass rod attached (glued?) to it. I have searched high and low on the Internet to find another threaded rod but have had no luck. I feel this would be a great way to fine tune the rudder and aft diving planes. Does anyone have a vendor where I could find it?
    Thx
    Farlan

Finding brass rod threaded is something I have looked for and find extremely hard to find that is not so expensive I came up with an alternate.

I go to the hardware store and find a brass bolt about 1.5" long that has a diameter of 1/16".
Then I use a brass tubing which I cut to about 3/8" long that the 1/16" rod will slip in to.
I cut the head off the bolt and file down the thread so the bolt fits in to the brass tube.
Solder it all together and I have a thread end on a 1/16" rod.

Then I found an easier solution.
      I use a wheel collar.
I use a 1/8" wheel collar and it get the 1/16" control rod from the cylinder and the 1/16" rod from the control surface and I slip them both through the wheel collar and tight when I adjust the length needed.

I have been looking through photos of my boats.
I do not have a photo of the wheel collar connection.
I do but it is in the Gato and part of the hull plastic covers it up.

I will be in the shop tomorrow morning.
I will get you a photo and post it.

          It is a simple system.
The rod from the cylinder goes past and beside the rod from the control surface.
Like taking a the first finger on both hands and placing them side by side.
Then slide the a ring over one finger past the end of the other then slide back so the ring is over both.
          Tighten grub screw.

          I'll get you a photo.

It is similar to what Ralph uses.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Tom, your photo shows 1/16" to 1/16" and it shows 1/16" to 1/8".
              I like your plastic collars.

This is how I do it now.
I come through the end cap with 1/8" tubing. and solder a 1/16" short length of rod in the end.
Then I use 1/16" to the control surfaces.

Photos of my Gato rear end cap showing how control rods are connected.
The 1/8' tube through the end cap with 1/16" rod soldered in the end for control connections.
This allows cylinder separation and it allows adjustment with a simple Allen wrench.
