        GERMANY'S MOST REVOLUTIONARY SUBMARINE.

German submarines of the XXI series (built in 1944-45) are the first "real" submarines, which were able not only to "dive" under water for some (very short) time, but precisely what to operate freely under water - without need to ascend regularly to recharge batteries or go long distances. All this submarines of this series could do while remaining at periscope depth. Moreover, the speed of their underwater course was greater than the surface speed.
For their time, these submarines were (despite a number of "childhood diseases") revolutionary.
The innovations implemented in them were thoroughly studied in many leading maritime powers, and then, to one degree or another, introduced in their similar "products".
Here is an incomplete listing of such new products, which first found their application within the framework of a serial submarine (i.e., initially included in the set of its standard equipment):
1.snorkhel (a device for ensuring the operation of a diesel engine under water) - this is understandable, and a special anti-radar coating was applied to its surface
        2. combination of the main (for full submersion) and auxiliary (for "silent" quiet running) electric motors
        3. decoys and jammers to distract or suppress enemy hydroacoustic means
4.Radar systems for early detection of enemy ships and aircraft, as well as their working radars
5.Active sonar system, which allowed (in theory) to produce accurate torpedo shooting from depths of up to 60 m, without surfacing under the periscope
6.system of fast loading of torpedoes

One of the last boats, type XXI (U2540), due to a shortage of trained personnel, was only able to go to sea for sea trials in April 1945. In May of the same year, she was flooded by her crew at the bottom of the Flensburg Fjord.
She lay there until 1957, when she was raised and carefully repaired. However, many of the original parts were lost. Since 1958, U 2540 served as an experimental submarine in the German Navy.
In the summer of 1968, the U 2540 submarine was withdrawn from the Navy, but since 1970 it has been in service again - this time as part of the experimental flotilla of the German Ministry of Armaments (Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung). Having served as an experimental submarine until the early 1980s, she was eventually decommissioned and put up for sale. It was not bought by metal traders, but by lovers of naval history from local non-profit organizations.
In 1983-84. The submarine was converted into a museum, and special efforts were made to restore its original external and internal appearance. Due to the fact that batteries, fuel and water supplies have been disposed of, the submarine's draft has changed - the old waterline now runs about 2.5 meters higher than the current one.
An interesting detail - German type XXI submarines served as the prototype for the first Soviet post-war diesel-electric submarines of the 611 and 613 series.

The proposed model of this submarine, made in high quality, is perfect for both PC model and Displaymodell.
This model is made on a scale of 1:32 and has a length of 240 cm.
All parts are made of high quality epoxy resin and fiberglass
